That guy. Top dog himself.
Call him up. Tell him get Lynda to wrap that lasso around Todd Howard and Pete Hines. We want the truth, dammit.
Yeah I give up. No one is hyped. Nobody is talking about Fallout 4. Only a few clowns bashing constantly against each other about the quality of the old games. Yeah it's like: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iIIuR-HjFho here and the moderators falling asleep constantly. It's boring. It doesn't work at all. I agree.
Ahh, but there is an implication of a C gamer.
Those who would otherwise not have game X on their radar.
The idea would be that creating mystery around a campaign makes people ask "what is going on?" And that question gets passed around, drawing attention to itself and making more people wonder. It creates a much larger spotlight; one that people can feel a part of, prior to any actual announcement.
Think of it along these lines: People still talk about area 51 after all these years. And it is the mystery that gets new people interested in it, years after anything that may or nay not have happened in Roswell.
I think your missing the point. I'd bet you dollars to donuts that there is far less traffic both here and to the survivor website for the end of the second timer. the reason is a lot of people will think it's all just horse[censored] after nothing happened with the first timer. nothing, absolutely nothing. a smart, professional, well run marketing campaign would have done something, anything, with the first countdown so that more people would have been paying attention to the second one. instead of building more hype you disenchant a good chunk of the potential audience and cause them to walk away feeling as though they just wasted their time and got their hopes up for nothing,.
Tagaziel not people do it. You are for the most part doing it.
Does anyone know how to do this on a mobile?
Didn't she seem to get picked to voice an NPC in Oblivion?
____________
* Also: What is 'ARG' defined?
The winter is coming timer hype was built by the people himself. It was nothing more then the announcement of the thanksgiving break, pretty clever tied in into the nuclear winter event in the fallout timeline. Only one major event gets the people back. No big deal. And yes this is how such games work.
the survivor sight isn't the actual start of the Fallout 4 marketing it is just the pregame warmup if it's real
Nah, Reddit is taking it as legit, and that's a pretty important site (unfortunately) in the gaming industry.
sure, but the point is this is terrible marketing, which most likely makes it fake. I mean come on, the site cant even stay up.
in an related theme then Bioware's marketing is stinking it up also with 4 pathetic Mass Effect 4 twitter pics that say a whole lot of noting as well
Ever come to thought that it's deliberate?
Last morsecode: Calling all stations, this is Vault Overseer 119, anybody near Quabbin? SOS Vault door breach, repeat, SOS Vault door breach, enemy unknown, level 1, 2, and 3 gone, survivors on (service lift? sealed?) level 4
In the wish to find out if FO4 is coming people doesn't look at the game anymore. That's a flaw I agree.
the problem is if they drop the proverbial ton of legal bricks on it and its just a fan sight by someone who was too mutch of a fan then they end up looking like a bunch of jerks and (Bleeps) that should be put out of buisness forever.
.
If its a hoax or malicious sight and they dont go after them then they become part of the problem for alowing it to go on when they could have just said "hey guys its not us".
.
Bascialy what I am seeing is the usual (Bleeping) mess that results when the lawyers go for the first responce and tell everyone to say "No Coment" on it while they try as quietly as posible to find out just what the heck is going on. Heck Blizard never did bother to say anything about that fake trademark fileing in Australia untill Blizzcon when they finaly had to say something about it. (apart from getting a Free Trademark for a potential future something or other that a fan defacto gave them, one of lifes ironys theres actualy nothing wrong with Giveg someone a TM for something if you dont do anything malicious with it. Kind of creepy to be honest, but Ive seen stranger things in greeting cards)
nobody is so stupid as to do this on purpose. for the 100th time, THE SITE DOESN'T EVEN WORK HALF THE TIME
And I'd be there are plenty of people like you. why in the world would anybody think this is being done on purpose?
The server isn't crashed it answers to ping's and tracert normally.
And I am tired in the memantime of the good old "NMA knows it all" discussion here. So see you later when I am better motivated.
Well looking at some Trafic reports whoever did this went for the basic package for bandwidth and they cant handle it which is why your seeing all of the failed conections
Just to give you an idea of how useless that is, the forum for all of bethesdas games according to the same trafic report aparently uses just over 40 TIMES that ammount of bandwidth at peak load.....
Lack of planing or yet more evidence that whoever did this did not have a clue? honestly Its almost as if they hired someones cluless kid brother to do it if they actualy did it.
so you've resorted to arguing semantics? the page won't open at least 50% of the time, probably more like 75%. call it what you will, it amateurish, and probably fake.
its also being swamped at a trafic level that would seem to indicate that whoever did this went with there Basic service package. that or the company whos servers are being used for this are full of crap as to the level of service they can provide.
The really problem is Bethesda has been dead quiet and their no comment is driving the speculation back and forth as fast an Olympic ping pong match
I think it's all a hoax but that doesn't mean Beth will shut them down any time soon...
Why would they deny themselves the free publicity?
Theres a diference between a flat "no coment" and a "We wish we could talk about this but you know, stuff and legal stuff and stuff"
the first means the Lawyers are involved, the second means marketing is involved.
Like I said its not to hard for the folks at the top to tell sights like Kotaku and sutch that they cant talk about it yet so shush(wink wink nudge nudge) and then there off Like a bunch of jackrabits going on about Viral marketing and stuch, but from the sound of things they bascialy have managed to let them know "we cant talk about it because our lawyers kind of want to blow then crap out of them" because suddenly the news sights are in Full CYA mode and saying oh this looks like it might be fake!
