Fallout 4 Speculation Suggestions and Ideas #173

Post » Wed Dec 04, 2013 11:04 am

That sounds like an acceptable compromise, I think. Best of both worlds. Though, I imagine it's "effectiveness" to please both sides will depend on the context of the MQ and how it is handled, etc. I think Bethesda tried that with Broken Steel, but couldn't hit the Bull's Eye so-to-speak. So some people were left, disappointed.

It'll be interesting to see how Beth handles it. I say it's pretty definite that the game will let you play past the MQ, but only time will tell how "effective" it'll be, as you put it.

Exactly.

Maybe even integrating the MQ with other quests in a passive way, for EX: In New Vegas, how the various faction leaders had you explore the Mojave and make contact with other lesser factions like the Great Khans, and either destroy them, or ensure allegiance. And in doing so, passively encourages the player to do other stuff on their paths that may catch their immediate interest.

Quote the quote, then copy & paste it into your edit. At least, that's how I do it...

Yep, that passive encouragement is what I'm actually wishing for. Like you said, it is a way to get the player exploring while also making it make sense.

They said after the uproar over FO3 ending, like it did, thats why they created broken steel...that they would both allow you to continue to explore after the MQ and would raise the initial level cap to a more reasonable number(81 if you played skyrim)I for one hate level caps,IMO it should cap you till the main quest is complete then let you GOD away,if you choose, maybe an option.

Or about 5, at the VGX. I wouldn't be surprised if this survivor 2299 was connected to Bethesda, but they still announce fallout 4 at the VGX.

Todd comes out

"Its true"

*Survivor 2299 site comes up on the screen*

*Everyone jumps on the hype train*

:P

Everyone jumps on the hypetrain? If that happens it's a runaway train not stopping until the last station!

That would be awesome, but if nothing happens at VGX, then that's four extra days of torture :D.

I never heard anything either. Probably because there was nothing to hear.

Not sure if it's been posted but somebody on Reddit took all of the site's messages and compiled them into a story.

Clues given to the next game:
The latest Morse Code reads - "Calling any station, calling any station, calling any station, Boston is gone, I say again, Boston is gone, no Hope, frequency 3450, return transmission, goodbye/God Bless America" and the site name is Survivor 2299. From both this evidence we will be playing a character who was there when bombs dropped at the end of the world and is still alive in 2299.
Older code - "My dear sister. I'm heading to the institute. god knows what happened to this place. Now this old bastard will help us. He must help us. -0321-" to further support this the message reads like he is seeing the wastelands for the first time. Could he have been in some kind of suspended animation all this time? - I doubt we'll be playing a Ghoul...
He is also not the only one from the past as he mentions a sister.
I think the Boston and Institute Quote is easy to figure out - http://www.imagebam.com/image/ba8d70292455522

We may not hear anything at the VGAs even if they are planning a late 2014 release. I seem to remember hearing something about Pete Hines saying they might not announce games so far in advance of their release in the future, but I'm not sure.

I remember hearing that somewhere too. If announced at VGX then maybe an early-mid 2014 release? Nah, doesn't seem like they would have enough time to get it all together that early, well there's always October 23rd.

If the site is real then they are doing a bad job at that.
