His reason for not commenting on the survivor site also suggests a reason why they might not make any announcement at the VGAs ... everyone expects it and they want a surprise announcement.

What if it was originally gonna be announced at the VGAs but because of the Survivor2299 thing they moved it to another date since there wouldn't be a as great of a surprise?

Ha, that might actually happen now that I think about it.

No matter what, something (more or less) significant will happen when the timer runs out. Whether it is revealed to be a hoax or it is something cool that will give a huge tease to FO4 (fingers crossed). At least when that happens the mystery will be over and that site will probably be done.

Looking at past timetables, we're about due for a BGS game announcement.

Oblivion released in '06.

Fallout 3 released in late '08.

Skyrim announced in late '10, released on the famous 11/11/11.

It is now the late 2013.

Never trust anything Bethesda says or at least take it with a grain of salt. They did this exact same thing with the Skyrim announcement. They also have done things like, saying there are no werewolves in Skyrim... ta-da! Im going to be keeping one eye open. Never getting my hopes up too high but not being a debbie downer either.
