Fallout 4 Speculation, Suggestions and Ideas #198

Post » Tue Apr 22, 2014 1:11 pm

This thread is so that we can keep all the discussion, rumors and speculation in one place.
This topic is for a friendly discussion of ideas and suggestions for Fallout 4.

We all have opinions about what the next game should have and should not have. Each of us has the right to express that opinion freely. There are points we agree on and points we do not agree on. This means that people are going to disagree with you on some things. Accept that and move on. No need to beat your point so far into the ground that no one wants to look at it any more.

At moderator discretion, threads about specific and distinct topics as they relate to FO4 and the rest of the Fallout series may be acceptable in the Fallout Series forum. General idea/suggestion topics for a future Fallout game will either be closed, or moved to this one.

This thread should be used to discuss items you'd like to see in a future game, gameplay tweaks, quest ideas, things you hope are not in the next game and so on. If you want to discuss major issues, use a separate topic - such as the discussion about adding multi-player or co-op play, which already has a thread. Please search first to see if there is an active/recent thread on a particular topic.

Something to note. Discussions of Child Killing is not allowed on these boards. Don't even bring it up in this thread. It won't happen in any future game from Bethesda, so there is no reason to even discuss it. If you post about this subject, you may be Warned and or Banned from the boards for doing so.

This is also not a thread to discuss current or past Fallout Games, other than to mention an aspect of the game you want to see included, or not included, in a future Fallout game.

Give more info on what is and isn't canon from Fallout Tactics during the game.

Key things what would be great to hear would be: Vault Zero, Colorado, Simon Barnaky and AirConvoy.

I have to wonder if cats are really extinct, or if they've just managed to stay out of the way of humans for a long enough time.

I'd love to have a cat crawl around my heavily fortified home in the middle of the wastes :3

On the topic of cats. Cybercat would be good. I can picture it living with a ghoul scientist who was human before the Great War.

Just to have it in the game. I am not asking for it to be a companion.

Meatcats would be completely useless in the post nuclear world, but a cyber cat? That would be nice, so long as it was programmed to not stare at the wall whenever you try to talk to it, or lie down and want belly rubs when the raiders come knocking :P

I think many people states that cat have disapeared.

But on the other hand, you can argue that those people haven't got the chance to got everywhere, especially in the only place they could exist.

(yet to be imagined)

Otherwise, there are still lynx.

Cats could probably survive in the usual Fallout deserts so long as they have enough small creatures to hunt. That might be the problem, everythings too big and mutated for them to hunt with any success rate

On the topic of animals, I'm left wondering just what the status of iguanas are. We know they survived the great war, but to my knowledge they have yet to actually appear in game.

I am not including the mods that includes them...which, BTW, I really liked. I'd like to see live iguanas in game.

...and yes I do know they're not native to the eastern US, but this is Fallout after all, and not having live iguanas in any of the titles so far has me wondering why.

Weren't all iguana-on-a-stick made of human's meat ?

Or they are actually iguanas in-universe ?

From the Fallout WIKI:

This is what has me wondering.

I understand they're not exactly native to the eastern US, but we do have pet stores, and a government that likes to experiment.

Agreed it is time we see Iguanas. From the looks of them throughout the Fallout games it is one of the smaller species of Iguana.

Don't see them squirrels either.

And yes, it is well passed time to give some lore from Tactics, NV, and 3.

I really hope something like Hearthfire makes it into Fallout 4. Being able to build a heavily fortified home in the middle of the wastes, or even that home plus a whole town. There was that Real Time Settler mod for FO3, I hope Beth takes some inspiration from that.

It should depend on the story I think. If the protagonist has an urgent mission, should they really take time to setup a house?

To date, all protagonists in Fallout have had an urgent mission; [though the urgency has decreased through every game from 1 to 3 and NV]. I never understood the sense of it in FO3, but as long as it's optional.

*But I would be impressed if ignoring the main quest to setup a house came with [positive or negative] side effects. IMO there should be no arbitrary choices in Fallout.

With the Real Time Settler mod installed I always felt like it would make a lot of sense for my LW to settle down and create a new town in the north or something. Shame that the mod fell kind of short to me, but eh.

Hearthfire does bother me a little bit because the homes I build are not very fortified. Atleast a wall and a few housecarls to patrol it, but Ive never been able to get a good mod for that.

I actually wouldn't mind a Morrowind-like stronghold type of thing. But like Gizmo said, only if it fits with the story.

Tel Uvirith with Uvirith's Legacy and the mod to build a town around it...Hnng.

Some of the best fun ive had in a game, playing as a landed nobleman in a mageocracy. More games need mageocracies.

Definitely. Implementing different elements like would offer a piece of great and refreshing gameplay. A stronghold type thing would be a lot of fun to play, as long as it can fit logically into the story, of course.

I like the idea of building a home base, but for those who don't do it there should be some kind of exclusive content for not taking the time to do it. A quest or something.

For those that do they should face decisions as well. Say you build a base, which would no doubt draw attention to raiders. If you don't defend you base from raiders, it can be destroyed/ pillaged.

Thats what I mean about how it should be heavily fortified - I would feel cheated if it didnt draw in every raider and wasteland critter within a few hours eyesight of it.

A method to generate your own power (Even if its running off of scavenged fission batteries) to run giant floodlights on the perimeter walls, manned with guards in towers and pop-up turrets to give a raider a bit of a fright when he gets in range. I wish someone would make a mod like that.

I got it on early access. Its kind of boring, to be honest. YES, I realize its still in development but the focus seems to be more on large scale combat than on creating a living world.

Is it anything like Fallout in any way? Just curious; I know nothing about it.
