Fallout 4 Speculation, Suggestions and Ideas #201

Post » Tue May 13, 2014 2:00 am

This thread is so that we can keep all the discussion, rumors and speculation in one place.
This topic is for a friendly discussion of ideas and suggestions for Fallout 4.

We all have opinions about what the next game should have and should not have. Each of us has the right to express that opinion freely. There are points we agree on and points we do not agree on. This means that people are going to disagree with you on some things. Accept that and move on. No need to beat your point so far into the ground that no one wants to look at it any more.

At moderator discretion, threads about specific and distinct topics as they relate to FO4 and the rest of the Fallout series may be acceptable in the Fallout Series forum. General idea/suggestion topics for a future Fallout game will either be closed, or moved to this one.

This thread should be used to discuss items you'd like to see in a future game, gameplay tweaks, quest ideas, things you hope are not in the next game and so on. If you want to discuss major issues, use a separate topic - such as the discussion about adding multi-player or co-op play, which already has a thread. Please search first to see if there is an active/recent thread on a particular topic.

Something to note. Discussions of Child Killing is not allowed on these boards. Don't even bring it up in this thread. It won't happen in any future game from Bethesda, so there is no reason to even discuss it. If you post about this subject, you may be Warned and or Banned from the boards for doing so.

This is also not a thread to discuss current or past Fallout Games, other than to mention an aspect of the game you want to see included, or not included, in a future Fallout game.

Find a better middleground that leans more towards Fallout and less towards TES. Make Fallout (once again) a unique series that can stand firmly on it's own feet rather than relying heavily on design of other unrelated games.

Better and more diverse rulesystem and overall mechanics and systemic quirks. Heavier on reactivity and C&C. Stronger an more reactive storyline. A world that feels connected and worthwhile to explore. Less focus on disconnected mundanities and busywork for the sake of filling the landmasses, and more on delivering a focused and thoughtprovoking (both narratively and systemically) experience.

What about making the whole game into an story heavy open-world RPG, like FONV, as an RPG mode.

Then include a "casual mode" with only one MQ path (so it includes the ability to play after the end), some essential NPC so that you can't screw yourself, less "bad" consequences if you mess with wrong npc, less differences involved with traits/perk, 2 perks by level, and more random ennemies to fight.

This second mode would more or less consist in a few tweaks that aren't that hard to implement, when compared to coding all quests & ressources.

(And a third mode called hardcoe, like FoNV, but with tweak in the characters system, with more cons & pros in traits, special & skills)

About the writting itself, i don't think there are fans of good writting and fans of bad writting. So just keep the same good writting for both groups. Also, i don't think anyone there is hating grey morality.

While i understand the need to appeal casual in some ways, in order to increase the playerbase, there is no need to screw the RPG playerbase in order to do that. Both can co-exist.

Also, if those casual get comfortable enough with the game, maybe they will be tempted some day to try the rpg mode.

Posted this in another thread but it probably belongs in here.

"

I'm gonna throw out some random ideas for what the next gen systems could do:

the touch pad on the ps4 controller could be used for quick swapping of radio stations by swiping horizontally left or right.

The light bar on the ps4 controller could be solid green for hidden or detected, solid red for caution and flashing red for danger.

Hopefully with the Ram in the new consoles we may be able to go in and outdoors naturally like in games like gta 5.

Have windows you can actually look through.

Maybe have the Pip-boy sounds come out the microphone of the ps4 controller, would that add to immersion?

Not that I'm a huge fan of this whole inhabit my character stuff, but it would be interesting if you could use kinect to scan your face and use that in character creation.

That's all the next-gen gimmicks ideas I can think of right now :)".

Considering Fo3 & FoNV were released in October, i would say that it would be the same with Fo4, as the publisher is likely to be the same.

About the year, it depends of the announcement. It would say 1-2 years after it will be announced.

Considering they intend to release on console, i doubt they will do an early access with tweak depending on feedback.
