Fallout 4: Speculation, Suggestions and Ideas - Thread #61

Post » Mon May 14, 2012 12:00 am

a customiseable character should be who you want him to be, not who he's pushed to be by the force of "player centric narration" combined with a fully written story.
And what if who I want he character to be is someone who can jump whenever they choose to?

Then you best plan your build. (I'm gonna try something new: Be completely open to every suggestion, at least until the thread is over.)

thats fine. As I said, I could see basing their jumping abilites on thei builds SPECIAL, plus factor in weight... why not add crippled limbs to that as well.
I just dont want "scripted" jumps. I can only play I Am Alive for short periods of time, because of stuff like that it is counter intuitive. You can jump. but only here. Its on par with invisible walls, to me.

No to the idea of taking out jumping, it makes no sense.

jumping with a character who has 1 AG, 1 EN and is carrying 250 pounds of equipment is even more nonsensical.

It's not measured in pounds and these games aren't realistic. It doesn't matter.

Indeed, In the original Fallout's the formula for carry wieght was something like 25 lbs per str point. It's only in gamesas games where you get the arbitrary everyone can carry 100-200 lbs then add in your str bonus.

So yeah in fallout 1-2 if you made a 1 str 1 end character you could only carry 25 lbs and have like in the teens HP.

I thought this was about jumping?

So if your Agility is 1 you can't jump? or you just trip?

Would be interesting to be able to trip with 1 in AGI.
Or just have this formula:

1AGI:10% of not being knocked down by power attacks.

Which means that if an enemy, creature or human, uses a melee attack which is a power attack then you have X amount of chance to be knocked down.
Someone with 1 in AGI would just about always be knocked down by power attacks.

Could make AGI more useful for people who doesn't use VATS.

I would think being knocked down would be a low strength kinda thing.
Agility would be more for movements that the player makes, no?

Agility is about foothold though, bad foothold means you trip more easily.

Also agility can mean how you are able to dodge, so might help in avoiding critical hits.

What if V.A.T.S. doesn't return?

I'd be severely disappointed.

I honestly wouldn't mind that much, I personally find it much more fun and challenging to not use it. It desperately needed the serious downgrade it got in New Vegas, it was practically a god button in Fallout 3.

I'm ok with the refinement V.A.T.S. received...I'd be all for 100% damage

One small touch I'd love would be the implementation of zoomable, rotatable loot like in Skyrim :)

That wouldn't be bad as long as they don't take too much from Skyrim. Sprinting is fine as long as your end. and agility determine how long you can sprint.

Not to derail the discussion or anything...

I would like to see a crow or raven android companion. That could gather information for you and give you a bird's eye view for tactical purposes. Increases perception and delivers messages and such things. As for its attacks it could have like laser eye beams or something.

Back on topic I would like to see the sprint implemented, but I'm more in favor of a bigger map with vehicles that run on alternative fuels.

Another idea floating around in my head is a sneak choke attack, applying a rear naked choke to enemies and taking their life that way would be an awesome touch.

Moar ways to kill is always a plus in my book.

I also want to see a system of hiding bodies when you silently kill someone. And enemies being on alert for when they see a dead comrade of theirs.

Another idea just crept up, what if they implemented a kidnap and torture system to get information out of people?

Chloroform to put people to sleep, then a shack where you could slowly torture any NPC.

Or is that too sadistic?

That would be a big step up from skyrim.

the reason i don't like jumping in fallout is because it takes up a valuable key all to itself, which could be put to far better use.

also jumping anywhere, anytime for whatever reason is completely illogical, because "jumping" is intended to get you from "point A" to "point B" when a "low-obstacle" is in your way.

Would be awesome to see the Vault boy android make a return as a companion, like we see in Tactic's as a Easter egg. :3
