Fallout 4: Speculation, Suggestions and Ideas - Thread #89

Post » Mon Sep 24, 2012 2:12 pm

This topic is for ideas and suggestions for Fallout 4 so that we can keep all the discussion in one thread. At moderator discretion, threads about specific and distinct topics as they relate to FO4 and the rest of the Fallout series may be acceptable in the Fallout Series forum. General idea/suggestion topics for a future Fallout game will either be closed, or moved to this one.

This thread should be used to discuss items you'd like to see in a future game, gameplay tweaks, quest ideas, things you hope are not in the next game and so on. If you want to discuss major issues, use a separate topic - such as the discussion about adding multi-player or co-op play, which already has a thread. Please search first to see if there is an active/recent thread on a particular topic.

No marriage.
No adoption.
No family ties.
No jobs.
No decoarating houses.
No purchasing property.
No pets apart from a dog or something companion.
No monster vaults, only social experiments.
No enchanted clothing, if it makes sense, fine, but a lab coat does not increase my knowledge of science.
No pregnancies.
No perk every level, it should be 1:2 or 1:3 with more interesting perks.
No ghoulification, either let us choose to be a ghoul or Trog at the start of the game or don't, but no mutation halfway through the storyline.
Don't fill the wasteland with enemies.
Don't force us into factions.
Don't let us continue past the main game.
Don't streamline the game.
Don't remove or dumb down SPECIAL.
Don't remove or merge any skills.
Don't remove hardcoe Mode, improve it.
Don't focus on dungeons, that's not what Fallout's about.
Don't continue upon Mothership Zeta.
Don't focus on quantity of companions, focus on quality.
Don't allow us to get SPECIAL up to all 10.
Don't add magical bobbleheads of any kind that have skill or stat enchantments.
Don't go for "teh c00l", write a Fallout game, not some awesome-hiking-simulator.
Don't remove traits, add more, make them important.
Do have lote of endings sliders.
Do remove minigames.
Do give companions ultimatums like in New Vegas.
Do allow both men and women to wear the same clothes.
Do explain how agriculture, production, industry and trade works so that the wasteland is coherent.
Do remove Intense Training and replace it with Gain X.
Do change the skill point distribution ratio to 2:1 at 50 and 3:1 at 75. Tagged skills are always 1:1 from 1 to 100.

I agree with these. The rest I don't really consider important, or I strongly disagree with, like the dungeon one. Weren't the Glow, Mariposa and all those dungeons? IMO the Glow was one of the most important parts of Fallout 1, and the little backstories in FO3's dungeons was one of the strongest points of the game.

I'd like to get married to companions. My gunslinger char. Emiliano Cortez would've loved to marry Cass.

Most of those 'dungeons' actually served a purpose in the story, the one's in Fallout 3 didn't and actually took away from the game, if you take away the dungeons, Fallout 3 doesn't actually have that much content in the way of story or quests, which is kind of important in a Fallout game. I'd rather have plenty of settlements/towns, quests, and a good main story in F4 rather than random and irrelevant vaults and dungeons, TES already exists for that reason, let Fallout be Fallout.

I would like it to be ones such as the poster from http://www.project610.com/files/x-files-i-want-to-believe.jpg that is posted on a wall next to a desk. In the locked desk there could be an "alien blaster" the kind from the orginal Fallouts that used normal powercells as ammo.

I also really want to have the following encounter. Bethesda you would make alot of your fans very happy if you do this!

"An old burned out comic book store. In it we find a couple skill mags and alot of burned books and verious other junk. At the back of the store behind the counter is a wall safe. Pick the lock and in it we discover a very rare item. An alien blaster (Original One) still in it's original packaging! "Alien Blaster! as seen in [TV Series here] by Wattz Electronics."

A computer terminal that can also unlock the safe contains entries:

1) "I can't believe I got my hands on a Wattz limited edition Alien Blaster!"

2) "Wattz imited edition Alien Blaster recalled in 2068 due to a mix up with Wattz Electronics They were meant to produce electronic toy guns, not working laser weapons!"

You can combine that one with the "I want to believe" one. You find the alien blaster in the desk and close by could be the comic book store.
