Fallout 4: Speculation, Suggestions and Ideas

Thread #55

This topic is for ideas and suggestions for Fallout 4 so that we can keep all the discussion in one thread. Other very general idea/suggestion topics for a future Fallout game will either be closed, or moved to this one.

This thread should be used to discuss items you'd like to see in a future game, gameplay tweaks, quest ideas, things you hope are not in the next game and so on. If you want to discuss major issues, use a separate topic - such as the discussion about adding multi-player or co-op play, which already has a thread. Please search first to see if there is an active/recent thread on a particular topic.

I had an idea for the fallout 4 trailer a while ago and here it is.

Setting: Desert, wide,unknown canyon

The trailer starts off with a black screen, and for the first 5 seconds all you hear is the sounds of someone running and orders being shouted in the distance. Screen shows the feet of the person running, slowly goes up to his face then zoom outs and shows the whole body of the person, who is a bos scout wearing brotherhood recon armor and is carrying a metal suitcase with a vault-tec symbol on it. The unknown character vaults over a rock and stumbles, rolls over and in a hasty attempt to get back on his feet resumes running. The camera goes into the view of the character and shows what appears to be the end of the canyon, 200 or so feet away and 2 vertebirds waiting for him. Camera zooms back to a third person view with the character running towards the cameras viewpoint. Bullets start ringing out in the distance and hit aroung his feet, one eventually clipping his leg, forcing him to the ground. He now only about 100 feet away from the vertebird when 2 brotherhood of steel palidans rush over to him and help him to his feet. While they carry the scout, the camera goes into a view from behind so that you can see the paladins with the scout's shoulders over them, about 50 feet from the end of the canyon. Another shot rings out and hits one of the paladins, decapitating him. Another vertibird flies over the canyon and drops some sort of explosive device on the bos vertebirds, destroying one of the two. As the enemy vertebird comes around for another pass, you see a capital E surrounded by stars. The remaining paladin carries the scout in his arms, 25 feet away from the remaining vertebird. As the scout and paladin get into the vertebird. The enclave vertebird is seen coming after it. The bos ship lifts off and the enclaves is in pursuit. The enclave vertebird fires a missile, knocking out one of the engines on the bos' vertibird forcing them to crash. The camera then switches to the scouts viewpoint, which is blurry from the crash. He looks over and sees the pilots head smashed into the controls, dead and lifeless. He then looks the other way and sees the paladin getting up. The paladin asks the scout if he is ok. The scout starts to reply but is interuppted by the back hatch of the vertibird being ripped open. The paladin raises up his pistol in response but is killed with a shot to the head from a plasma defender, showering the scout in blood. As the scout wipes the blood from his face so he can see , a hit to the face knocks on his back. An enclave soldier in power armor ( the type found in FO:NV) looks over him and picks up the suitcae, opening it to see if the contents are intact. The camera is still in the scouts viewpoint during this time. The soldier turns around and asks if the charge is armed and then leaves the vertebird. Still in the scouts blurry viewpoint, you hear the enclave vertebird lifting off. You hear an explosion, the screen goes red, and then everything goes black.

Tell me what you think. Comments are appreciated.

I hope Bethesda aims to make the combat less run and gun, an make it look visually like Battlefield 3 in terms of animations and sound but under the hood it actually has a bunch of statistics and dice rolling going on like a proper RPG. Hopefully they'll make character's S.P.E.C.I.A.L stats and AP more crucial to the game too. So basically, more RPG and less crappy animations.

First off, more walled text with spacing. Even at that length, my eyes hurt. Second, the Enclave is all but gone and done with. Nothing more than Remnants, scattered about, living out the rest of their lives doing this or that. But they're definitely not the Enclave we saw in FO2 or 3.

So no, can't say I'm for that opening.

It's Chicago actually, and no matter, it's not going to be something like Raven Rock in FO3, or shouldn't be if it is. If Bethesda did that, there would be a HUGE uproar about it. The Enclave should be, as they are in New Vegas, Remnants of their former selves. There could of course, still be a few Remnants in their old bunker outposts, but they're nothing like they were. They're a shadow of their former selves, nothing more, and that's how they should be after having their main forces blow to kingdom come TWICE.

Houses to be much more customizable. A button on the world map of your pip-boy that sends you to your home would be pretty cool. Of course, you would have to set your home first. Hell, even a function to take over a base and make it your own would be pretty cool.

Your right. Forgot enclave has only small groups left. Too bad Bethesda killed them off. They were my favorite faction, even though they are evil.

However I remember reading that there are, or at least were splinter groups of the enclave that were trying to restore pre-war America, not just eradicate mutants. So perhaps well see one of these.

I'd actually count it as four, Oil Rig, Navarro, Raven Rock, and AAFB.

Ok so this is gonna be long...

1. Weather, randomized weather would be cool, and not just rain, but thunder storms, hail, excessive heat, fog, and snow Mabey?

2. Seasons would be cool, a post apocoliptic winter would be sweet.

3. Better music, FO3 had such good energetic music an more swing style of it. The wasteland music was better FO3 too.

4. Better radio stations, maby a raider radio station with heavy metal, or post hardcoe or something playing, or a ghoul station, wasteland, or caravan stations.

5. Sprinting? Or at least a perk thy makes u faster i don't know.

6. Bigger map. Well everyone wants that but I'm just saying.

7. More creatures. Things like Wanamingoes, floaters, different kinds of centuars, and any creatures you can think of.

8. Livelier settlement, when you entered New Vegast the strip was empty, I want tons of people,an alot of settlements.

9. Things to improve a town or settlement would be awesome!

10. Tons of quests! NV was perfect in the sence that there were so many quests, I know a lot of people have said it but a big bounty board would be cool, kinda like boarder lands and have kinda the endless quests or some big ones like skyrim.

11. Incorporate sneaking to be more usefull kind of like metal gear solid, it already kind of us but like going prone position and crawling under things would be sweet.

12. Cameras would be cool i don't know why, just would be.

12. Fishing or other ways to hunt and stuff would be cool.

13. Being able to put up heads of animals or laying the skin on your ground.

14. Making houses extremely costimizable would be awsome!!!!

Anyway that's all for now if i think of more that would be cool. Comment if you have something to say haha.

I would kind of like to see some intelligent deathclaws like Goris. Possibly one as a companion, but I just want to see ones that aren't trying to eat my face.

I'd go down with that. It's somewhat reminiscent of Arcanum's crafting system (which was great). Although it can get unnecessarily confusing if there's a ton of weapons (like in NV) with all of 'em having 3-5 type-specific parts in them. I'd go for having a moderately large list of specific craftable weapons and specific parts for them, but have repairing be more separate from that.

I once toyed around with an idea where there was to be 3 categories of weapons based on their craftmanship. I can't quite recall all the specifics, but the general idea was to have:

Category 1: Post war selfmade weaponry (craftable, high damage output, cheap and easy to repair, high availability, high modability, fairly cheap -- but, non reliable (prone to jam and reload disorders regardless of CND), low accuracy, fast deterioration rate (constant need of repairing)).
Category 2: Pre war Home defense weaponry (more reliable, more accurate, lesser deterioration rate -- but, less damage output, more expensive, less available, moderately harder to repair, non-craftable and less modable).
Category 3: Pre war military grade weaponry (Very high damage output, very high accuracy, very high reliability -- but, extremely expensive and rare, barely modable, non-craftable, very hard to repair).

Something along those lines, and with each category having 1-3 base weapons for each type of weapon (pistols, SMG's, rifles, assault rifles, machineguns, shotguns etc). You'd that way have an entire category of highly modable weapons to craft from scratch and alternatives which have their ups and downs over that category. Weaponcrafting could be handled through related skillthresholds (what ever the skillsetup for that sort of crafting would be).

(disclamer: I've downed half a bottle of whiskey, so you'll kindly tolerate typos, K')

"
It could make the overall weapon list a bit... Forced.
With each category having X amount of Y and X amount of Z, not to mention that once the DLC's are released the pre-fixed balance will be thrown out the window.
Though what happens with other weaponry that does not fit the list?
For example, Tesla Cannon in Lyons Brotherhood. It's a pre-war design, but designed through post-war means. Category 1 or Category 3?

I like the idea of despite having skills for each type of weaponry (Guns, Explosives, EW) that they're grouped into different categories that decide their stats.
Though I do think we should be able to craft anything with the right schematic. So raiding the faction who creates guns and taking their schematics for pre and post war weapons could ear yourself quite a buck selling the crafted weapons to general stores.
The simpler designs of post-war weapons only need their respective skill check though. (Mechanics/Repair/Electronics/Science/Explosives)

Spoiler
Small alien crashed wreackage town.
I want tribal weapons and pneumatic weapons to be added in.
sprint and varying terrain and the new hotlist.
More alien stuff, and I wanna know what all the pre-war government knew about them.
I want to be able to into a fullsize theme park.
CHANGEING FREAKING SEASONS, I want them possibly.
Well I was thinking along with the changeing seasons there could be seasonal quests/enemies, as well as holidays. I want to give a Raider a 12 gauge gift to the head.
I would love easter eggs from other games as well as movies and tv shows.
I want to know more about the pre-war government plans with the vaults. And what happened to the heads of all the major corporations.
Bring back the slavers, I need something good to hunt. Make sure they have good weapons and armors though, the slavers in Fallout 3 were mostly pushovers.
I want to see what happened to all the survivalist group's out there, and I would like to see some fallout shelters and bunkers that the civilain population built.
I've been thinking, why don't they have locations outside the main map before they even announce the dlc which then could either expand these out maps or add more of them.
One thing I would like again like I have said before, a alien town full of several different types of aliens. They should all be only in one area that you need to do and get certain things to get to them. And once you get to them you can't fast travel to them, you have to go up a mountain pass every time. I always liked the concept art of the stranded alien. I'm talking about something filled with maybe a dozen aliens(possibly the aliens that aren't greys or greens are slaves?) with some "scouts" patrolling the outer areas with "alien stealth suits" on. The town would either be underground inside a mountain or at the top of a mountain in a valley Shangrala style.
Well since there hasn't really been a game where they would be(other than tactics I guess) there isn't anything to say bison could be in the game. Their heads would be the strongest part of their body, so headshots would be a no-no unless you have a big gun.
Hmmm, can tabs should be a secondary currency.
MMT=More Metro Tunnels
One thing I think we can all agree, the next game should have the Bozar in it.
I want this in the next game.
What I would like to see with weapons alongside the skill's for them is something that allows you to get better with that particular type of weapon from use. Like how San Andreas did it with it's guns.
A avro car.
I just had a idea for a random encounter.
It only happens at right when you are either in a bed while sleeping, or when you are walking down a road without anyone else except maybe 1 companion. It's a different experience if you are on the road or in your bed at the first part, but the second part where you see a light and some figures above you doing experiments on you. This part goes by fast though, and you are sent back to where you were. You gain a perk from the experience as well as a odd rifle that will be lying next to you when you are returned. Also while this is all happening the x-files theme song is playing.
I would like to see more military holotapes and stuff about the aliens, as well as some more aliens in general.
The return of traps.
Hunting and trapping for skins and meat.
I would rather see the factions that are strong and centralized that keep to their own. Maybe each is rebuilding in it's own way and fashion, one group's cultures is more like ours in it's music and ideals and fights for peace and justice. Another a group of stoners that sell their product to the waste and no one would attack because they hold the secret's of pot. A third faction that is more war-like yet with a culture set in honor so they wont attack weaker groups without cause, they patrol the wastes doing their best to control the 4th faction. The 4th faction is a group of raiders, marauders, and some light ritualistic cannibalism. The last group is similar to how broken hills was, mutants and humans living together just to survive. They have ghouls that have managed to conceive ONE baby ghoul which they hope will help them to be able to have more.
All these factions have built of the refuse of the old world, with only the first faction having built a actual small city with 4 50 story skyscraqers as they have access to a concrete plant and a steel mill. There also 3 more factions which are the main factions. One is a group that is made up of the ancestors of soldiers that survived the great war, they are similar to the BOS but more willing to take some people in that they think that can fight. They have power armor and combat armor, both of which they have modified since the war to suit their combat needs. They don't use many energy weapons but instead use guns and some silent weapons. The opposite faction is a group of cultist mutants that abduct people and turn them into mutants who they then brainwash to fight for them. The last of the three main factions is a large tribe, there are tribes in the game that don't belong to any group but this one is special. This tribe is extremely violent and attack all the other factions, they do everything in their power to kill as many as possible and are trying to get their hands on nukes so that they can again cleanse the world. This is one of the main enemies in the game, the other enemy is yet to be come up with.
Fallout 4 needs to combine the things that are in NV(except the closed ending) with the truly unique feel of Fallout 3 with it's devastation, desperation, general atmosphere, the amazing music that haunts my TEOTWAWKI dreams, and little things that litter the map with what people were doing when the bombs fell and afterwards. As well as a new location maybe in the middle of the country. Toss in more weapons, maybe all the ones in fallout 2 and some from tactics. Add in some survivalist groups that survived since the great war as well as abandoned military bunkers and bases that were made up of military forces that survived the great war but not as part of the enclave. And some hints at a return of the Enclave in one way or another, or contact between the Enclave and this other military faction. Toss in a map that is 3 or 4 times bigger than Fallout 3's and let it ripe.
Bracing for hate!!!!
Camels and bisons.
Dual Wielding pistols and one hand weapons.
One thing I would like to see are weapons that look cobbled together like this.
As well as weapons like crossbows and spearguns(never used it in tactics when I got it). One other thing is I would like to see more tribal specific armors, not really in there right now. I would really love to see more of the inside of buildings, maybe they can give you a crowbar that works like the shovel does. In that you have to have it to open a certain type of door or container. I would also very much like that they bring back what was in the original fallout with being able to blow upon certain things. As well as rope, to get in and out of certain places. A map without invisible walls would be nice along with more sideoftheroad type things like in New Vegas, as well as a old amusemant park that is controlled either buy traders or raiders.
The ability to call in mortars, airstrikes with vertibirds, or artillery.
After main quest play like Fallout 3, would not be considered canon as Bethesda could just say you did all the dlc and such before you beat the game.
Non canon Easter eggs.
Zoo's, movie theaters, Freddy's Fears house's of screams, gun shops, carnivals, amusemant parks, assorted pre-war places to make the game feel like people actually lived before the war.
Seattle needs to be done. This area should have rain and be barely hit by any nukes because of unknown reason's, which make themselves parent at the beginning part of the game. The Chinese had planned their own invasion in the shadows, and along with help from Chinese American citizens that managed to hide from the commonwealth police. They came in small group's and began killing police and military personal 3 days before the Great War happened. Seattle is still there, among the colds. The Chinese invaders have been gathering strength for over 200 years, waiting for a signal from from China. Well the signal has come, and it's time to begin the second phase.
I have talked about Seattle being a cool place to go before, I did in the last thread.
And I still say that packs should be in the game, or exoskeletons that add strength AND extra carry weight. The exoskeleton would take the place of a power pack but not a regular carrying pack.
I want more bunker's, both civilian and military ones. And I want fallout shelter's as well, ones people dug in there backyards or out in the middle of nowhere. I also want to see more armor's and weapons, as well as some vehicles that I can use.
More alien quests. And the return of the Enclave, only small scouting parties though. Fallout 4 should have them still regaining strength and watching other groups. Maybe some actual Quests by them to take out people or buildings and such.
Paraffin slugs for shotguns, as well as hillbilly slugs.
Samurai and Black Knight armor.
And I still say that packs should be in the game, or exoskeletons that add strength AND extra carry weight. The exoskeleton would take the place of a power pack but not a regular carrying pack.
I would still like to be able to get a pack for my character, maybe be able to get power packs to boost energy weapon stats.
That's why it would be out of the way, also both the guns I mentioned are in F2. You can get night-vision for the fal if I remember right.
Maybe some Easter egg armor that is EXTREMELY expensive(like 1,000,000 caps) and a pain in the ass to get.
bounties and hits that groups/factions can give
prone position, make sniper rifles show their true potential
bipods for added accuracy
a job where you can increase stats with time and such
dual wielding(this one is more than likely gonna be in anyways, dual wield .32 revolvers or chinese officer swords)
LARGER MAPS
What I would love to see like I have been saying for a while is this:

I would kind of like to see some intelligent deathclaws like Goris. Possibly one as a companion, but I just want to see ones that aren't trying to eat my face.

all deathclaws are intelligent, 99% of then just don't like to talk to their food! Or they don't know english so they don't understand you!

But yes i support that to.

And i think the role play factor we need to have so you can be friends whit all factions, a well 50 % off em depends on who you pick. when you pick one another will be piste, as it was in GTA but more advanced.

You hit it right on the money.

I know it might ruin the point with this game, but I think that the Wasteland in F4 should be more civilized, and less destroyed. F3 was the worst if we are talking about the game with the worst environment. In FO: NV it's slight better, but now I've got tired of the same concept. I want something new...

What do you think? Have I got a point?

4. Better radio stations, maby a raider radio station with heavy metal, or post hardcoe or something playing, or a ghoul station, wasteland, or caravan stations.

I think the radio stations in both FO:3 and FO:NV is great! The old, classical music, makes me relax... Like when I'm bombing a Ghoul or something (IDK if it's alright to even kill Ghouls in this game! Just ordered it, and waiting for it...)! Then I can do it LIKE A BAWS! It would be great if you could turn on the radio, and listen to ''Come fly with me, let's fly, let's fly away..!'', at the same that you see a flying Gecko that flies over you...

Notice my bad English...

I would kind of like to see some intelligent deathclaws like Goris. Possibly one as a companion, but I just want to see ones that aren't trying to eat my face.

A DEATHCLAW AS COMPANION!!? ARE YOU CRAZY!?

I've always hated Deathclaws... It all began when I first bought FO:3.

My friend watched me play the game. He was jealous of me, for having such an awesome game. Yep, it's true!
I Fast-traveled to Megaton, to proud show him that I nuked the city. I also showed him my dog companion Dogmeat...

Suddenly, while looking for survivors, a message appears saying ''Dogmeat has died''.
''Stupid dog'' I said.
I turned around to look for Dogmeat's corpse, and I scream.

A Deathclaw started to run after us. We screamed like two girls!

That experience was very cool. Me and my buddies first meeting with a Deathclaw...

PS: No, Deathclaws are NOT intelligent...

Setting: Chicago, because I live there and it'd be cool. Also because the Followers of the Apocalypse seem to be headquartered there and they are my favorite faction.
Plot: the ACTUAL return of the ACTUAL United States, NCR and Caesar's Legion branded as rebels in U.S. territory. (this is just a very broad, general idea for a plot). Or..
Setting: Alaska
Plot: same(?)

Or maybe they should do a 180 and set the game in China, with a whole new story, free of vaults and vault dwellers etc and there'd be new factions and whatnot.
