Fallout 4: Speculation, Suggestions & Ideas - Thread #57

Post » Thu May 03, 2012 6:24 pm

What would have been good is if Stealth Boys were like the Original Stealth Boys of Fallout and they had the ability to be turned on an off, but the downside is they make you go insain like they were originally intended.

It would have been awesome to have an old school stealth boy in Fallout 3 and its long term use would cause hallucinations and possibly change your charisma.
Yeah, plus the ability to recharge them with a fission battery or something (or just give it to a variant). Also, make it a wearable item of clothing.

I feel that fallout has yet to adequately explore the organic side to tech. I know they touched on it with the beastlords. Mutants that could control creatures, Mutants in general, etc. But I feel that they could expand on that. Include other mutations to humans in the wasteland do to radiation, like in perks or upgrades. Example, a perk at level 4 that allows you to control a coyote, 8 a gecko, 16 a yao gui, 30 a deathclaw. Anyone got any ideas about organically based tech for weapons or tech in general?

I would like the level of society found in new vegas but with a catch. The space between civilised areas is now an extremely dangerous stretch of land. If the NCR or other major ruling (Caesers Legion, Slavers etc.) faction are included in the game then you can take their roads for safety but you must pay a toll and wear a special clothing item ( as a symbol you paid) or something if you don't want to get shot by their patrols.

Also it would be nice for some resting points along the way but these are off the main roads (except a few but these are just small rest stops not full towns with permanent housing just maybe a rentable bed and a place where you can buy food and water but for a higher price.) Caravans need to have a more regular schedule.

Also a new faction similiar to the Dark Brotherhood (no rituals or anything but they will carry out any contract) and targets that you have to stalk and learn their schedule, habits ( like if they take med-x alot you can put a lethal chemical like abraxo and turpentine combination in its place and kill them silently). I loved stalking targets in Oblivion and fufilling the optional objective like loosening the bolts on the mounted head and having it fall on your target. I dont want the story to be cheesy though so they need to be well known but not have a distinct leather uniform with tights( or any type of obvious uniform) that gives them away.

And adding on to the rest stop thing, if its a desert setting there will be oasis with water and plants where you can eat and drink and sleep if you have a bed roll. Just some ideas. Tell me what you guys think.

He's not saying stealth boys are overpowered because they run out of energy unlike the Chinese Stealth Armor which does not.
That was explained though, the chinese in the game had the upper hand in stealth tech with the US trailer. While the US had power armor with the chinese trailing WAY behind with that.

Also people did yu not read my post on bows and crossbows?

I really like the weapons in Metro as well, and I don't see why we don't have more wasteland made weapons in Fallout either. All the engineers, scientist's, gunsmith's, and tech junkies couldn't all have died or been in Vaults. Wasteland made weapons both energy and regular small arms should be all over, we have already seen modifications for these weapons done by wastelanders after all. And just think what they could have done with fission cells and crossbows or harpoon guns!!! And think of all the ball bearing that could be used as ammo that are just lying about, or even marbles. What we need to do is start emailing Bethesda with weapons ideas, maybe they will look at them and think NICE and put them in. Think about this, a fission powered crossbow with different types of ammo including a exploding arrows that could be used to kill things or blow up traps, rocks, barriers so that we can progress to other areas.

I think I agreed with about 90% of what people have suggested here. I did not see much talk of vehicals, bikes, hoverounds, segways, thing like that for transportation.

I think it would be cool to be able to buy property like the gas station for example, and be able to pull you vehical in to the garage and mod it (new paint, better motor, attach chainsaw to the side so you can gut gouls down by driving by them.Or better yet, just strap c4 to it and blow it up.

Just a thought

That's actually pretty neat, I would be okay with crossbows, if we can retrieve the bolts that is.

And as long as the Dart Gun is not nearly as overpowered as it was in F3, I'm okay with that too.

there needs to be more improvised weaponry. bows and crossbows are both great ideas. hardcoe mode should be a little more comprehensive, i want the game world to feel desperate, although the non-essential companions caused my to be to scared of their deaths for me to properly use them. The ability to found a settlement of faction or something along that line would be more then welcome. Also there needs to be more factions and settlements, previous games felt too empty. Traits should be kept as they worked wonderfully. Energy weapons, power armor, and other high tech things should be much more rare. Also i would personally like for the game to be set in canada, because i would love to explore my home city. The Great Wasteland of Calgary.

When I drink a bottle of water or a nuka cola, please add the empty bottle to my inventory, and please allow me to fill it with whatever I please afterwards.

Also, I want long hair on men too. Especially ponytails.

And empty stimpak containers so we can refill them later.
Biggest reason I never crafted any stimpaks of my own, it's too much work getting the correct ingredients when I can just buy them from some doctor.

On that note, raise the price for chems and medicine and lower the amount we can find/loot.

i saw this thread as i was playing fallout NV and here is a few things that i noticed that i would like to see improved on

1: more dialogue between factions for example the NCR always talk to each other about the legion and nothing personal like family or life
2: more round types (like the ones in the gun runners arsenal)
3: more schematic needed weapons
4: more non-human companions like ed-e and rex
5: a mode of transport, not a car but maybe a bike?
6: more back story on locations like the vaults
7:more uses for the scrap you find in the wasteland (it is post-apocalyptic so everything should be usable for something
8: and last but not least dlc that extends the game like broken steel did in fallout 3

I guess, but it seems kinda pointless to me. Wouldn't doing it by hand be faster?

Old crossbows you have to crank, it takes a while.

As for modern ones, it takes about the same amount of time, maybe little faster.

Being able to poison bolts/arrows would be a must, as well as a return of the dart gun. Armor piercing bolts would work good on heavy and medium armor, they were a major part of why armor stopped being used.

Old crossbows you have to crank, it takes a while.

As for modern ones, it takes about the same amount of time, maybe little faster.

Those you do not have to crank, which are faster, are also weaker. So maybe... a crossbow you pull for faster intervals between bolts fired but less damage, and one you have to crank for more damage but slower intervals between bolts fired. So the first one the bolt can be dipped in poison and shot from the dark, the base damage won't be too much but the poison will do the work. The other crossbow you can get more "boom, headshot"-moments from. And then there could be the ultimate custom made self-cranking crossbow, that with the power of a fission battery and some engine would crank it much faster than by hand. And if the engine is strong enough it could pull a stronger string, until it goes to the extreme like my idea I linked to! :P Truly a heavy crossbow, firing bolts made out of rebar, powered by a fission-powered lawn mower engine hehehehe
