Fallout 4: Speculation, Suggestions & Ideas - Thread #58

More mutations, why does every ghoul look the same? Why does every yao guai look the same? Why does every wasteland look the same?
Variations, mutations, lots of them.
I want more forms OF mutants as they grow when you do, more "Albinos" or go as far as with the Mods making, "Emperior Scorpions"

it seems that modders have brought back some of the original monsters from the series and added some new ones in these Fallout New Vegas Mods: (Slayer monsters seem to fit pretty well.)

Beth can you make Lockpicking different or harder, preferably harder!!!!! its too easy and I'm well used to doing it now, perhaps a new form of electronic lock that requires a mini puzzle to solve on screen or possibly a mess of wiring that has to be rewired or by-passed or sumthing. Its just to easy to do now and I want LPing to remain a challenge throughout the game. Thanks.
As long as it isn't the same as Oblivion's lockpicking system.

ok, heres my idea: dallas/fort worth is a huge area. not to mention the dallas fort worth air port and massive ammounts of oil. see where im going with this? i think that we could try a massive fly between wastelands. dallas being first, followed by the ruins of havanna, then detroit to create and make cars, then the ruins of war torn anchorage, alaska, then canada, then even in the last 2: LA, california, the largest wasteland, stretching into oakland to the north, and then san dego to the south. after that, the final wasteland: beautifull london, england. not so beautifull anymore. yes, this would be a massive storage of data, maybe 4 gigs, but with such high storage space on these new xboxes, why not make 75% of it downloadeable content? each one of the places also is occupied by the brotherhood of steel, at that, and the brotherhood seems to be taking over the waste by the year 2300. the NCR is in control mainly to the west, and the remnants of the legion try to keep control in colorado, losing becuase they gave up slavery and the brotherhood has put a price on each of there heads. joshua resumed leadership after ceaser mysteriously disapeared and, despite his early shame with the legion, he has rebuilt them into a completely new group. you are an immigrant and a member of a small tribe in dallas that flies the last of its great planes at the dallas/fort worth airport. your tribe has fixed and is rebuilding the airport and its planes, and with the help of an allied tribe that specializes in oil production and refinement, have been able to fly above the earth once more. but now the tribes are merging and expanding, and your father the greatest of your tribes pilots, has died, leaving you his final mission: see the remnants of the lost world and help rebuild it according to its original constitution. a copy of the entire constitution was found in the airport, along with many history books and hundreds of others on all of the old worlds knowledge: the brotherhoods dream, the NCR's fortune, and the Legions(or former legions) most coveted tools. you must use these to aid members of factions in each of the original great cities, except for Washington DC. you think it is probably to far gone to worry over. much to your dismay, however, the enclave is back and a lot diffrent now. diffrent and deadlier. remember deathclaws? sceintific research on the hulking monsters has discovered that, given vocal chords and a bit of reasoning, they can become far more capable than humans in battle and in leading troops. the new "deathclaw terror squads" are not the only weapon in the enclaves twisted aresenal, they have also created MK 3 and MK 4 power armor. the soldiers are better equiped, the new editions highly advance, and the original "remnants of americas government" have bilt themselves a base far more menacing than that of raven rock or the mobile platform. they have taken to the skys and the tunnels of the underground in a whole new way: advanced vertibirds and new tunneling bases. the new enclave is quite terrifying, but not to worry, they are on your side. at least, in the end. the enclave saw the error of there ways and re-discovered true democracy, and since reformated the original millitant rapin and pillaging stance. they are looking to help you. your father was one of them.

the new lands of post apocolyptic america are the easy part, its when you go international that you see the real hell holes.

detroit and canada are controlled by a new face, one that wants to revive americas auto industries and climb to the top of where america used to be. the NCR in california want democracy and old world values, and will do anything to get back to the way things where, only now, just under there control. havanna is filled with hundreds who still heard of americas greatness even after the war. they never even knew america got hit. anchorage was the one place that china didnt hit, and the one place that they couldnt get in the first place. the greed drove them to want to take it for themselves, not blow it up. its still war torn and barren, even after all of its wars where up. the inhabitants are oil makers and fishermen, and the population is largely of chinese decent. they speak english, but want communism. a civil war has broke out between the communist of the war torn hell hole and the last of those that believe america can be revived.
after all of this, london, a city that was rained on with nuclear fire that could only match Washington DC, is held by a population of mutated freaks, only a small part of the population being entirely human. they want the monarchy back, and along with it, the thirteen colonies. this wouldnt be a problem, they cant do much, right?, but oh how they can. they never fired the nukes they had stored. that being said, they have 100, 000 nukes all aimed for the original colonies of the US. how will you handle these situations? how will you fufill your fathers last will and testament?

new factions are revealed, new weapons are uncovered, and an entire new way to play fallout is forged.

thats my idea. ive actually thought up the entire game, lol. im a huge fallout fan, and this sometimes comes to mind. creators of fallout, take what you want from my ideas. it may be to much for one game, so do what you want. this is just my suggstions.

That's rather linear for an open-world RPG, and it would give your character background and history with little room to roleplay something up. Dallas/Fort Worth would be a great location though.

I don't know what the next Fallout game will be like, maybe single player, maybe MMO, but I actually don't care about that. I only care about that Obsidian Entertainment is somehow involved in the creation of the next Fallout game. If you are not planning on having them involved (because of a bad relationship), then please see how they made New Vegas and learn from that.

and, with equipment, the remnant power armor looked extremely stupid in new vegas. the helmet made you look like a freaking bug. bring back to enclave armor from fallout 3. that hellfire armor was bad ass.
the pip boy was a bit weird looking, but i can live with it.
the t-45b power armor needs to be taken out and replaced with something less clunky. the T-51b winterized power armor needs to come back in 4, and so does the auto axe. besides that, the .44 magnum was not strong enough in new vegas and there where to many. there wasnt enough 45-7 govt ammo or 12.7. there also werent enough mini nukes, and i personally miss the merv launcher. oh, and i would love to see some type of gun like the ARC II, just make it more like a plasma weapon and give it 2 a day, becuase i have lost my once a day use to many times by accidentally destroying something i didnt mean to destroy.

after all of this, the aliens from mothership zeta where to cool to leave out of new vegas unless you got wild wasteland. even then, just a blaster? really? and no extra ammo? thats extremely impractical. js.

ok, yeah, i get that. still, there needs to be a plane and a bunch of cars, dallas must be included, detroit hast to be in there, and so does LA. i really want to see an international fallout, though, ya know? like get to visit china or paris or italy or even germany. think about it, though, and what about greece? get to see a post apocalyptic athens, a ruined sparta. think of the possibilities, bro.

Also, regarding companion behavior: Probably a command to tell them to either attack enemies when they're aren't looking or distract enemies

A couple of other things I would like to see are:

- Extra dialogue or effects based on really low SPECIAL or skill stats. Low intelligence has been tackled well in the Black Isle/Obsidian games.
- Perhaps with a really low Charisma score, many people won't even talk to you. Especially those of the opposite six.
- "We don't allow ghouls in here!"
"I'm not a ghoul."
"You coulda fooled me. Still, get out!"
- Low Strength? Can I help you with that reward?
- Glasses are required for a really low perception score or you will get a pretty blurry screen.
- There is a bad place where the bad mutants come from. It is bad. Vault is good. Please go destroy bad place.
- And so on.

- My heart isn't really set on this, but I think it would be neat to be able to become a ghoul. If you have say Critical or Deadly amounts of radiation over a fair period of time, perhaps you might turn into a ghoul. You would take a huge hit to Charisma, but receive a rad resistance bonus, and perhaps other gains and hits. Obviously, a warning would need to come up to warn you to take some RadAway if you don't want to become a ghoul in the next minute or 30 seconds. Of course, different dialogue available for being a ghoul.

I think that's it for now.

As a Canadian I'd love to see the next Fallout set on the border of Canada and the US; preferably in the pacific northwest (ie Seattle/Vancouver) or on the east coast (ie Detroit/Toronto). Another place that would be great to explore would be the Commonwealth. As for gameplay I expect Bethesda to have these following things: - A map sized greater or equal to Skyrim
- Unique weapons have unique designs
- The companion wheel
- Craftable weapons (ie railway rifle, shishkebob)
- the ability to harvest items like food (like maize from NV, or alchemy items from skyrim)
These are things that i'd like but aren't crucial:
- A leveling system like Skyrim, where the skills go up when used. (Although no perk trees)
- Hold-breath for scoped weapons
- dual-wielding for one-handed guns/energy, melee, and unarmed.
- more Easter eggs (nuff said)
- a little more scenery(even though i like the absolute destruction DC, it would be nice to have bit trees that aren't
completely dead)
- A radio host who's as entertaining Three Dog.
- Having the ability to change into a Ghoul or a super mutant much like someone acquires lycanthropy or vampirism in
Skyrim. (ghouls have complete radiation resistance and actually are healed by it but is discriminated by humans /super
mutants have high intial DR or DT and strength but low intelligence and bad reputation with humans and ghouls)
Anyways just some food for thought!! Can't wait for another wonderful adventure in the world of FALLOUT. Hoping for news at E3!!

The one thing the need to keep is, the Job aspect in New Vegas, but expand it, like you should be able to join the regulators and hunt down law-breakers. They should also let you smoke if you wanted to.

- A leveling system like Skyrim, where the skills go up when used. (No, this is Fallout not Elder Scrolls, which has a terrible leveling system, on paper it sounds fine but in game its not very good)
- dual-wielding for one-handed guns/energy, melee, and unarmed. (Once again, this is Fallout, not Max Payne or Skyrim, dual-wielding is terrible, it's inaccurate and wastes ammo)
- A radio host who's as entertaining Three Dog. (You mean an annoying hypocritical terribly written radio DJ? no thanks.)

And there is really no way to turn into a Supermutant anymore in Fallout, the original FEV vats were destroyed, and I try to pretend the East Coast FEV was part of some drug induced fever nightmare, moving it to DC was really pushing it, it showing up again in some other part of the USA would be over the line.

Why, no offence, are people thinking becoming a ghoul is easy.. and fast.. It is also not a disease it is a mutation.. And a relatively rare one..
so....
- Having the ability to change into a Ghoul or a super mutant much like someone acquires lycanthropy or vampirism in

See my above point ... adding diseases would be OK imho... (like addictions), treating mutations like diseases.... Not going to happen.
TES and FO are two different franchises... Deal with it.
The argument of adding TES mechanics to either replace FO mechanics or adding them is as silly as suggesting it the other way around..
(like adding Vats or a similar mechanic to TES)
FO4 being announced at E3... doubtful. There hasn't even been a set release or announcement for skyrim dlc.. and that will be Bethesda's main focus for now.

That's why I am against the idea of playing as anything but a human cause so many people would [censored] and moan about no being able to become human again whenever they felt like it. So people would be able to become ghoul then back to human and then back to ghoul at will. That is just so damn stupid it isn't even funny. If there was a way for a ghoul or super mutant to become human again, there wouldn't be any super mutants or ghouls anywhere. Remember ghouls don't like being ghouls! if there was a way they could magically become human again they would take it in a heart beat.

I just made a new character on Tactics and I noticed that there is a tough guy option. You can only save at the bunkers, they could put this in as a mode for F4. Only be able to save in beds or maybe campsites that you make similar to Red Dead Redemption.

And as always I want more guns, at the very least as weapon packs that I can buy on the side. These packs could even be modern weapons and stuff that doesn't fit into the game. They could be considered no-canon like the pre-order dlc. Weapons and house packs could also be added in the same line.

I want the story to be about my political philosophies and morals, and projecting them into the gameworld via the faction I choose to represent like in Fallout New Vegas. IMO I must admit that NV was better than FO3 in most every way. I used to be of the camp that FONV has a better story, but FO3 had a better map.Not any more.

Whilst waiting for patches and dlc announcements for skyrim, I have stoped playing it as much as I was in Nov. and Dec., and have spent the last few months predominetly playing fallout again.I commited to do an entire playthrough of both, starting with 3. It was fun, it brought back the old memorys I had of it when it first came out. But, I found my self anoyed by the story(or lack there of), all the rediculouse plot holes, the silly morality, and, for the first time, the map got on my nerves. I dont know if it was FONV that made this map seem silly, or if it was the map not makeing sence with the plot/layout, or if it was these things in tandum, but I didnt have as much fun exploreing as I used to. Walking around random wildernes fighting stupid albino radscorpians over and over again, with no logical cities, no logical routs for traders civilians, and no logical factions, It just felt wierd and stupid.

My point? Ive finished my playthrough of FO3, and gone back to NV.Its miles above. The map is logical, the story is logical. Bethesda needs to make the next map with this in mind, make it feel like there is actualy people/cities/roads/something to it, not just a giant square filled with places to go into and kill things.Bethesda needs to make the next story with good factions that actualy make sence in this map.

If they cant do that, then Im all for obsidian picking up fallout from here on out.

Just read the last few posts and realized I don't even understand how one becomes a ghoul. It's a slow process, correct? How does it differ from radiation poisoning and why didn't they just die? What was so different that made them continue to live as a ghoul?

I'll just say it again. Sometimes reading these forums makes me wonder....

...about what's the purpose of reading these in the first place. But that's not the real wonder I worry about, not at all, what I worry about is.... well, read the thread and you'll understand.

In normal gameplay, radiation just randomly kills you.
