Fallout 4 Speculations, Suggestions and Ideas

It would be nice if we could use rocks as a weapon...

If we got the Throwing skill back they could expand on the throwable weapons arsenal.

Those people are called "dinosaurs". Basically, if Fallout 3 had turned out to be the borderline religious experience they expected it to be, they'd still hate the balls out of it simply because it's something to do. Oh, and most of them wanted that crappy "Van Buren" game instead, so that's also a big part of it.

And a "Ghoulification" quest would be pretty awesome, though from what little lore I've seen on them the process seems to take a long time. Could be wrong though.

Not all of us "dinosaurs" started out with the originals. I myself did but others started out with Fallout 3. Also, I don't know anyone that calls themselves "dinosaurs" that hate Fallout 3, just not happy with the writing and missing things like reputation system and damage thresold.

How was Van Burn going to be crap? There was going to e a guy trying to make Born Ghouls.

Ghoulification quest I am on the fence about. If it can be done where the game changes as in people know you are a ghoul and no longer human, that would be good. A way to change back, I would be against.

nightkin are way better at sneaking than a human

But I didn't mention Nightkin as a playable race now, did I? Just humans, ghouls and the typical mutant. What bonuses do you think they should have?

So the Dinos compare a game that never came out to Fallout 3. Hmm how can they say that it had better lore if they never played the game?

Not too fond of the multiple race idea either unless it's a non-canon spin-off game

The only thing I'd like to see for FO4 (well, mainly the only thing), would be more faction depth. Something similar, but greater than, Mercenaries 2 World in Flames, in that you can capture outposts and towns for them. Another faction edition I'd like to see is if you could actually be IN the faction, instead of just being a beneficiary. For me, that would add a lot of depth to the choices and the overall feel of the game

Say! I've got all those design documents.

as cool as some of the stuff is/was for VB, you can't consider it lore.. not just becuase it didnt actually happen, but because they can't ever be used, legally.

i really really like the idea of using mesa verde

Totally understand. Reading the thread, I kept mentally revising everyone's ideas. I don't expect it to be implemented. I wasn't trying to be a pill; I've been enjoying it.

Now where's my playable Securitron, dammit?

It gives some thinking excercises too, to figure out these mechanics (even if one can not get to testing them). And even if they are generally a bit out of place, they provide better discussion than suggesting something a bit more RPG and more in line with the originals.

Here's your securitrton:
Securitron pros:
High DT and DR and HP
Bonus to science
Bonus to speed

Cons:
Can't say no and must help everyone in contact.

Man, that's what my human characters are like :sadvaultboy:

All in all, pretty cool. I love the robots in Fallout; I hope they have a robot society/faction in F4.

Ghouls are cool, too. Someday an industrious ghoul will figure out how to train his feral cousins, you know. Teach 'em to wear clothes and not attack until they're close...

But enough about stinky ol' ghouls... how'd you like a robot DJ? Or a pair (a securitron and a Handy)?

I'm all for it, as long as the robot isn't as dull as Mr. New Vegas (was also was a robot).

I think that to make those who didn't like Three Dog and those who didn't like Mr. New Vegas would be happy with a mix of the two... It could be a robot with a personallity. (A Commonwealth experiment, make a robot seem to have personality and give him a radio broadcaster to see what happens)

Securitrons are only in New Vegas, all of them House's except Yes Man.

How about when you help a fraction become stronger,you actually see them doing something that shows that they are doing better,like you see there territory get bigger or you see more patrols of them in places they where never at before and their numbers grow bigger or see them occupy another fraction base, or maybe help them take it over somebody's else's base or help them defend a place they just took over, or help them defend their own base.But at the same time it should feel like its random and not part of the story line as if the Fallout 4 world was really alive even if you turned off the game. Because thats where NV dropped the ball at.And the best story line ever with side-kicks I actually care about like in NV. Because in fallout 3 there was really no choose on how the story went witch I really didn't like.And people that don't repeat the same-thing every time you talk to them and more voices and a better engine that can handle allot more.And of course a big map kind of like fallout 3 map but bigger.O ya and a simple press start and your friend can play as a one of you side-kicks wouldn't hurt. So what i'm saying is I want some unholy chimera of both Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas but better then both.Thats not to much to ask right? lol or forget everything I just said and just make Fallout 4 one of the best video games of all time and ill be happy. :toughninja:

I think it'd be pretty cool if when you help a place you can see improvements.

Lets say ou play a mission for a small town's militia that's fighting the Commonwealth. Against all odds they took the Commonwealth's closest bunker and you have to guard a caravan there to give them supplies. And after you complete the mission and you go into their storage closet you actually see a lot more food and a few more weapons. That'd make things feel more real.

I hope that in F4 you can actually start a caravan or work for one or actually become a contributing member of society. How can almost everybody else in a town have a job except you?

I also really hope the game world is atleasttwice the size of F3 and NV (It annoyed me how in NV the entire eastern part of the map was just raised flat land, why can't we go on Legion turf?)

Okay, just looked over my suggestion for races and I've cut down it to five and expanded on all with pro's and con's, how's it looking?
Let us choose what race to be in Fallout 4.

Some examples of how they could work:

Android (UnDeCafIndeed + Gabriel)
Pro's
- Base HP (before endurance effect) x1.5
- Double effects from endurance
- +1 to Str, End and Per (changed my mind with the perception)
- +5 initial DT
- Does not require SLP/FOD/H2O
- +2 to detecting enemies on radar (10 real PER = 12 PER for the detecting enemies)
- Unique perks exclusive to Androids
- Immune to radiation and poison

Con's
- Base skillpoint gain halved (if the formula is 10+(intx0.5), it would be 5+(intx0.5) for androids)
- Perks one level later than others (if normal rate is 1:2, for android it'd be 1:3)
- -2 to max int and cha
- When lit on fire, it lasts twice aslong as with others, though fire does not do more damage than normally
- Does require ENRG and SYN
- Pulse or Tesla or Shock weapons inflict twice as much damage on Androids.
- Harder to heal oneself due to very expensive mechanics NPC's and expensive healing items.
- Harder to find healing supplies, those one does find (scrap metal/electronics) does very little to heal oneself
- Very reliant on Electronics and Mechanics which means Android players might have a slightly/heavily limited amount of skills.

Wastelander
Pro's
* Bonus to initial reaction from humans.

Con's
* Initial reaction from mutants and ghouls halved.

Wastelanders have no greater pro's nor con's over the other races, they are the default race, basically, they are the SPECIAL 5.5.5.5.5.5.5.
The race with the most freedom but also with the least bonuses and penalties.

Prime Normal trait tweaks:
Pro's
* +1 INT
* +1 CHA
* Persuasion, Deception, Barter, Electronics, Mechanics and hacking gain x1.5 (This meanas that with this race trait and the normal trait Good Natured you can get a massive head start on support skills with the extreme drawback to combat skills.)

Con's
* Endurance effects with +% to rad and poison resistance is halved.
* All combat skills are decreased by x1.5

Super Mutant
Pro's
* Base health x2.5 (Base health is 100 in FO3 and NV so it's 250 for Super Mutants.)
* +5 to min STR (6 is the lowest, can't go lower than that. (How much sense would it make for a super mutant with 3 in strength?)
* x1.5 damage with all blunt weapons and Hand to Hand weapons.
* x1.5 reloading speed and equipment speed with big weapons (minigun, flamer, gatling laser)
* Immunity to Radiation and +30% poison resistance.
* +10% damage resistance against laser, explosives, bullets and fire.

Con's
* -6 to max INT (V87 super mutant = dumb dumb by even Tabithas dumb dumb's standards.)
* -4 to max CHA
* Due to super mutants hostility towards humans a lot of them will kill SM's on sight and the rest will be very suspicious of you.
* Cannot use smaller weapons. (SMG's, pistols, revolvers, sawn off shotguns et cetera.)
* Has veeeeeery few armors in the game.

Nightkin trait tweaks: (Sebor13 + Gabriel)
Pro's
* Stealthboys last twice as long and can be used two times before depletion. (Perk later on can allow to recharge depleted stealthboys.)
* Have a greater chance to find stealthboys in random container spawns.
* x2.0 sneak. (If base sneak with tagged is 30 then it becomes 60)
* +1 min AGI

Con's
* health is x1.5
* +3 to min STR
* -2 CHA for super mutant NPC's. (Due to the schizophrenia.)
* You occasionally hear whispers and enemy voices and can see random red dots pop up on the compass while there is nothing there. (Craziness.)
* Friendly NPC's can also show up as hostile dots on the radar.

Ghoul (UnDeCafIndeed + Gabriel)
Pro's
* Each tagged skill earns 2.5 more skill points than for other races. (Ghouls have after all lived for a very very long time.) (So if base is 15 then it means 37 per tagged skill)
* Machines that use "detect life" scanners cannot see them. (Thanks to Broken Steel that made ghouls have 0% body heat...)
* Gain exclusive perks surrounding radiation bonuses. (Healing crippled limbs, storing radiation, unleashing a radiation cloud like Glowing Ones can, stuff like that.) (Hell, every race except for Wastelanders and Prime Normals should get exclusive perks for their races.)
* 100% radiation resistance.
* Radiation heals over time (slowly). (Both health and crippled limbs.)
* Kinsman ability, feral ghouls and aggressive SM's are more likely to leave the player alone if not provoked (not being friendly, just having a possibility to be less agressive and ignore the player).
* Bonus to initial reaction for non-feral ghouls, neutral/friendly SM's and human ghoulsympathisers (excluding characters with set mindsets).

Con's
* Cannot wear heavy armor or power armor.
* -1 to Charisma (I saw that thing on Arcanum about "beauty" and I think that would suit ghouls better but since we only have Charisma I guess this'll have to do.)
* -1 to Agility. (They aren't exactly the best gymnastics, they'd probably lose a limb if entering the OS. )
* -2 to max Endurance.
* No natural DT or DR.
* +15% recieved damage.
* (those two due to skin and flesh conition)
* Initial reaction from humans halved (other than ghoulsympathisers).
* Slower movement than humans.

Troglodyte
Pro's
* +7 DT (due to their thick skin
* Sees better in dark areas
* x1.5 to Traps, Survival skills
* x1.5 to base health
* +2 to min END
* x3.0 to END effects. (Radiation and poison resistance.)
* Gain no penalties to any races initial reactions, Trogs are neutral with all other races. (Ferals and krazies can still attack them but are not "as" likely to do so.)

Con's
* Takes longer time to adjust to bright areas when leaving a dark area
* -2 to max ITN
* -2 to max CHA
* -2 to max AGI
* Gains no bonuses to initial reactions.

You should add something like hearing whispers and random people becoming enemies on your compass for no reason, but they don't attack you.

Edit: for Nghtkin.

Think that would be too irritating for Nightkin players with random people becoming red dots on the compass but the idea of whispers and random red dots popping up while there are no enemies there is a good idea.

Gab, i explained to you that radiation would have an effect on androids, while it attacks END and other stuff in humans, the damage it does to circuitry could be put forth in PER and INT damage.

So each 200 gives -1 PER and -1 INT?

New idea for humanoids and trogs:

Each 10 radiation decreases max hp by 1% (this means that 1000 = -100% = death.)
So 300 radiation means that max hp is decreased by 30%.
This would give radiation another negative drawback other than the -stat effects.

Everything there looks very very good :) I'd love to play as a Nightkin just for the paranoia, hearing whispers and seeing red dots on the compass when no one is there. But I did kinda like the idea that people you actually see in, say, a settlement, could show up as red on the compass, like you suspect them because they gave you a weird look or you thought you heard them planning to kill you when you actually just imagined them saying it. Of course the people aren't hostile to you, they will act like they normally do but due to your schizofrenia, you think they might be after you.
What if when you walk passed people and normally they say "hello" or speak about something random like nuclear winters, their wishes for more gambling, hearing a gunfight the other day and you know, the normal things. But when as a Nightkin, you walk passed someone and there is a random chance that instead of saying any of that friendly stuff, they could say something really nasty to you with a psychotic voice like "if only I had my butterfly knife on me, I'd cut your spleen out and force you to eat it" or something... I'm really bad at threats, but yeah... your Nightkin character would think that he heard a random person spitting this out at him, but you as a player know that it's just inside your character's head because he's paranoid so you can just choose not to beat the living crap out of this innocent person for threatening you. :)

Also, I'd like to play as a Trog just because of the white skin, hair and eyes. How scary wouldn't that look?

This is the main thing I would like as well, I think it would add more depth to the game with the factions growing stronger and weaker, with realistic outcomes for your actions.
An example of why this should be included: In NV if you

*SPOILERS*

kill every Legionnaire at Cottonwood Cove, nothing happens. it would be awesome to see either the NCR move to take the Cove, or The Legion keep sending waves of people to attack it.

One more thing I'd like is a better engine that can handle more people in one battle (Hoover Dam was disappointing for me). MAG showed it was possible to have 256 people in a large map, why cna;t New Vegas hav more than 30 in a small area like the Dam walkway?
