Fallout 4: Speculations & Suggestions

Post » Mon Dec 05, 2011 6:47 am

Not really interested in making up new story line or anything but some awesome ideas ive thought of would be:
1. more use of scavenging, being able to collect more things for actual uses
1a. collect scrap metal for building new buildings possibly creating your own towns and npcs filling it up.
1b. scrap wood or other items for building furniture or conductors and such for say your own tv or light fixutres etc.
1c. being able to salvage parts off of vehicles and rebuild them for use.
say you start off being able to fix guns then rebuild small motors like the lawn mowers "dead alive" lol and then up the scale till you can fix the semis or aircraft?
2. familly system similar to fable?
3. towns that evolve over time aka. grow, shrink, or gain new facilities depending on your interaction with the town.
4. easier home decorating. possibly being able to grab posters off walls. ive seen quite a few i really wanted to have in my house! haha
5. territory maps that change as you help certain factions. id like to be able to drive the #$@# super mutants out of an area for good!

i had more but it was a walmart discussion with my friend and i forgot some of the stuff we came up with. thanks

I know some people said have it somewhere other then america, and I agree, we should see what happened to the rest of the world, like germany or london. In one of the posts someone said that maybe germany went back to nazi's...as interesting as this would be to see, if they made fallout 4 set in germany, they could not use nazi's because germany actually has a ban on that stuff...plus it is offencive to many people. But they should see about doing another country since the last fallout games took place in america.

I loved fallout 3, yet i would love it if radiation had the option to psionicly effect a few people, creating a new character type/option similar to magic user, or more like me2 L2's and 3's.
I really dislike dlc, so please do not make an unfinished game like dragon age where they just had it added (for fun?) when it should have been in the end release, just make dlc as small quirky add ons not quite big/good enough to be released as sell able content on their own.
More schematics and the makeable weapons (even armor) should be the most powerful/effective.
I would love it to be set in a location other than America, post apocalyptic Japan anyone? and the cartoon figures could have the old anime style of say Astro boy. Even include crazy kabuki raiders? Geisha ninjas? Death dealing schoolgirls? lol i don't know, just something a little different would be nice.
An option to skip the start and just walk out of the vault, its kinda fun the first few times but starts to make you look at another game by birthday party time.
Other than these i loved Fallout 3, massive world, lots to explore and do, radio was interesting to listen too and the first fps i really enjoyed.

i thought about a fallout game based in the north. I think Canada has lots of potential for a fallout game just think; Winds and water currents brought the radiation north from states irradiating the area, the sun being blocked out from the airborne waste causing an ice age (that is slowly clearing after 200 years) . survivors of the American occupation forces became warlords and tyrants trying to hold there ground and maintain an iron grip as a Resistance forms to try freeing the oppressed land. With the activation of the purifier Canada has the chance to purify there fresh water lakes. the brotherhood of steel start to head north into Canada in search of more Tech. An Angry Gual looking to avenge his brother who was executed by the ocupation force before the war (the guy in the news at the start of FO1).

Possible factions:
- Canadian Separatist group (negative Karma) : will stop at nothing to eliminate the Occupation force. (much like a raider Faction)

- Canadian Peoples army (Positive Karma) : Want to Free Canada but are more passive and organized, (descendants of the Canadian armed forces) (stylized after WW2 Canadian soldiers)

- American Enclave Occupation force : They are Trying to Keep control of The area at all cost (however due to the Fallout and the loss of communication to the mainland, Enclave moral is low and some of the members are starting to give up and splinter off abusing there power and becoming tyrants and slavers

- American Loyalists: still trying to stick to previous orders and trying to maintaining order

- The Brotherhood of steel: looking for tech (where in Canada, i would not know)

- Citizens: having mixed feelings for the Factions

- aboriginals: some neutral and some against the occupation

you could find beasts like the Sasquatch (big foot), or a wolverine in place of the death claws, Giant beaver (saber tooth even) There should be more wild life (but not all hostile)
Play hockey as a mini game.

Fight for the control of the tundra's waste's as you Join the resistance and help liberate what is left of Canada, or help the occupation and destroy the hope of the Canadians.....

if there is a hardcoe mod you would have to find a way to stay warm, and hunt for food when your out in the tundra

(this was taken from my other post)

well, i need to make a rebuttal from another thread in here because said thread was closed and we were directed to this one (which is balls, that moderator is the ultimate party pooper, closing threads that have been in use for like 2 weeks, grrrr)

whoever said "Ronto" is actually Toronto Ohio is a fool. Pretty sure bethesda has never heard of a city that has a bustling population of under 6,000. Toronto Ontario on the other hand has a population in the multi millions and is within a days drive.

And how, exactly, do you explain away the fact that Toronto, Ohio is 30 miles away from The Pitt? What makes more sense, The Pitt being in a competition with Toronto Ohio, a city 30 miles away, or The Pitt being in a competition with Toronto Canada, a city 300+ miles away? Plus, thinking that the devs never heard of the city is ridiculous when you consider that it is literally right down the same river The Pitt is on.

sons of liberty is used in the metal gear series....so it could be a refernce to it..but i think it may have copyright as it's the name of the game...sorry

They could use it...You can't copyright sons of liberty as it a old protest group back during the revolution.

That doesn't matter. There's still a Toronto 30 miles away from The Pitt. Just because they talk about places farther away then that doesn't mean a location 30 miles away can be ruled out.

The vault saying it's in Canada is about as credible as a random person on the street saying it's in Canada. The vault can be edited by anyone, and besides, the actual game never mentions where it actually is. Everyone, including who edited the vault, just assumed it was Toronto, Canada.

I like the idea of Ronto being Toronto, Canada, but it just makes more sense for it to be Toronto, Ohio, a city 30 miles away instead of 300.

Maybe some place in Europe? Like England, or France, or even Germany? If not in Europe, I'd think the commonwealth is most likely, but some place like Chicago could be good, because we've seen both coasts, but nothing from middle America.

1. Ability to build shelter
2. Ability to name your own weapon If I were to get a crowbar, I'll name it Gordon
3. Giving your weapon an advantage at a cost, for example, higher base damage but it requires repair more often.(only if named)
4. Bigger map
5. More quests
6. Quest that take a lot longer
7. Better A.I
8. A lot more random encounters
9. Weather. like once in a while, rain :D
10. More perks
11. Higher level capacity
12. Better in game economy
13. Also, Cigarrettes raise Charisma by 1, but after many uses, addiction.
14. Withdrawal effects alot more severe
15. maybe in game relationships? Like a husband/wife?
16. More variety of enemies

*17. When suffering from withdrawal effects, then the chem is taken to no longer have withdrawal effects. But then your withdrawal effects get worse and worse.*

Actually, as a Canadian IRL I think its kinda funny that in Fallout's Lore, Canada has been annexed. I think they should develop on this. If Canada is now Part of the USA, I think it's a good Idea to set Canada as a playable territory, I mean only one city, like Montreal. Because this can cause the series renewal, a totally new game experience and different environment to see. if Canada is part of USA, it mean there is some vault on his territory !!

So, what Montreal can give to Fallout Series ?

* The Olympic Stadium, an awesome place for a Encampment, with it pools, it Baseball Stadium, his numerous places to go, the fact it is in cement so it is a giant and protective city for peoples. also the Tower can be a good place for the radio's Antenna !
* Hockey, it mean some cheap armor, melee weapons, T-shirt with http://http://agoldenworld.files.wordpress.com/2007/10/montreal_canadiens_1992.gif everywhere, also a flag for a faction (because Quebecois adore putting Hockey Flag on their cars, there is of these flags everywhere !)
* French Language, New songs for the Radio ! Edith Piaf, Georges Brassens, Léo Ferré, Charles Aznavour, Mireille Mathieu, Gilbert Bécaud, Salvatore Adamo, and Jacques Brel ! French Canadian music wasn't at his top in the 50's. but France's one was !
* Winter ? it gives Snowplows and Shovels, New more Melee Weapons !!!
* Montreal Metro, with 4 lines, (Green, Orange, Blue, Yellow), who can also serves as Nuclear Shelters. Talking about underground : There is a lot of Underground shopping centers that can be used as Raiders lookouts or cities.
* The tunnel passing from Montreal to the South Shore. Also a dozens of bridges to jump on.
* ''La Ronde'' Amusemant park, a good place for another city or finding scrap metal.
* Expo 67 : you'll get a lot of old peoples by getting it back entirely. this is also another good start for finding technologies (as superweapons !). the main themes of the expo was the new technologies.

Mixing all theses nice ideas to the principal ambiance of Fallout : (Mutants, Vaults, post-nuke, Nuka-cola, Caps, Brotherhood of Steel, Enclave, and all that good stuff that make Fallout so Awesome !)

Also another one : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_StmAEIGkMA as the main theme of the game. totally sarcastic, totally fit in the game !

do you like live in Toronto Ohio or something? Toronto Ohio is a town of 6,000 people.... that is literally NOTHING. Boston (which is in the commonwealth) is over 500 miles from Pittsburgh. If he mentions a city 500 miles from his own city, he could easily be referring to Toronto Ontario, a city which could actually become a power because it has a large population, economic, and industrial base (A LOT bigger then the great metropolitan centre of Toronto Ohio) Also if Toronto Ohio is only 30 miles from the Pitt, it would just be full of Troggs. The only reason the Pitt prospers is because of Ashur. Toronto Ohio i am sure does not have a leader who is capable of keeping the troggs in check, also the BoS didnt cleanse Toronto Ohio.

Oy. It isn't hard to grasp. A town 30 miles away is much more likely to be Ronto than a city 300 miles away. It doesn't matter that he also mentions The Commonwealth, just because he knows about far away places doesn't mean places close by can be ruled out. Just because Toronto Canada sounds like a much better place to you doesn't mean it's the location. Anyway, the location of Ronto isn't confirmed and wont be confirmed until Bethesda chooses to confirm it in the next game, so arguing about it is pointless.

Why, because of the water? The people in the Pitt had to drink the same water. You have no actual evidence, you're simply guessing.

I know many people have been asking about a multiplayer mode and i have been thinking, why not make a multiplayer mod like King of the hill or something . or Defend the Trenches // against hordes of Super Mutants and Raiders and stuff. and ofc Deathmatch. something so you atleast can play Co-op.

For the person who suggested Ronto, Ontario i found http://falloutfanon.wikia.com/wiki/Ronto in wiki, that could be a good story line. not that it is fanon (fan made conon)

a winter place u know like an ice age somewhere to give the fallout universe a new look u know like the atomic bombs kinda changed the weather and made it snow.

With Operation Anchorage and potentially Skyrim, I'd bet that BGS would avoid a snowy place out of sheer overkill for their dev team...

Make skills go to 300% and have it require 2 points to raise a skill by 1 after 120%.
Example: lvl up, got 16 skill points, I put them all into a skill with 120% and I get 128%.
If you put the 16 skill points on a skill that you have tagged you will get 136%.
If you put the 16 points into a skill that's at 200 then it's a 3:1 ratio while if it's a tagged skill it's a 2:1 ratio.

I'd also like perk every third level.

And for SPECIAL to be a crucial factor to one's gameplay.

But I'm sure all of this has been suggested before.

How about the http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Van_Buren_skills system where the skills went up to 200 and the SP cost would've been:

1-50 1sp
51-100 2sp
101-150 3sp
151-200 4 sp

I like that concept even better than Fallout 1 and 2.

Otherwise I agree with your suggestions.
