Fallout 4: Speculation & Suggestions
Thread #11
This topic is for ideas and suggestions for Fallout 4 so that we can keep all the discussion in one thread. Other very general idea/suggestion topics for a future Fallout game will either be closed, or moved to this one.

This thread should be used to discuss items you'd like to see in a future game, gameplay tweaks, quest ideas, things you hope are not in the next game and so on. If you want to discuss major issues, use a separate topic - such as the discussion about adding multi-player or co-op play, which already has a thread. Please search first to see if there is an active/recent thread on a particular topic.

I second things throwable, and I second this!

This night I just tried throwing spears for the first time! Took down an NCR patrol in sneak mode, one spear per head!

So we've been to the East coast, and got a good look at the western deserts in NV, even though it's not the West coast. I see Bethesda taking us either to the actual West coast next, or the Great Midwest. Personally, I would love to see what the Midwest has been up to. It certainly had it's share of references in FO3 & NV.. Anyone else notice the red license plate riveted to the side of ED-E? Or how about when a member of the Brotherhood of Steel in FO3 mentioned the 'rogue' chapter located near Chicago? I'm sure those of you who played Tactics would like to find out what happened to this chapter. Considering that the surviving members of the ill-fated airship expedition refused to accept the authority of the Lost Hills elders, and recruited non-humans into its ranks, this chapter could make for an interesting visit. Also, the power armor they had was pretty badass, even though it may not be canonical. But I'd be that much more happy if Bethesda decides to make it so. One more thing... If Bethesda does consider the Midwest, then please offer R. Lee Ermey a voice role as some high-ranking Brotherhood paladin. I miss General Barnaky yelling at me.

So what songs do you guys think should be in Fallout 4? I think we should go back to the Billie Holiday, Ink Spots, Cole Porter, Bob Crosby, Andrew Sisters, etc. type of music as opposed to New Vegas's style of music.
I'll start off with http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vMnLoOnrwbg song. Although the Gene Autry version is great too.

Ummm we've been there. In two game. You played tactics and not 1&2? Plus, I dont think we will go back there it is now almost completely settle by the NCR.

If they stay on the East Coast, they can make it a direct sequel to 3 and reference NPCs, events, locations from FO3. FO2 did that by staging the game near FO1 locations.

New York, Boston and Philly all come to mind. That being said, it is over 200 years after the war. Chernobyl is starting to recover a bit already in the real world. I'm hoping FO4 shows some semblance of life in the world. Lets see a few trees, even if they aren't super healthy or vibrant.

I'd like to see the Midwest. They could have the DC brotherhood involved with the Chicago one and remnants if the masters army that went east.

Also as stated above its been a while since the bombs fell I think they should add some life to the world.

Maybe some ncr involvement depending on the Canon ending or ceasars legion remnants.

I meant as a revisit, after the time of the Vault Dweller or Chosen One, and possibly see how their legacy impacted the area. Sorry for the confusion. But, I agree that the region probably wouldn't be featured again, or anytime soon. All the more reason why the Midwest should be considered, I say.

I like to listen to music when I want to. You can always turn the radio off. I like the atmospheric feeling of hearing someone play a some songs on a radio in the wasteland. Maybe not the DJ's though. The songs. And you can turn off the combat music aswell ;) But I like atmospheric music, I'm really happy that some of Mark Morgan's soundtracks are mixed in with the other soundtracks in NV. Like the Necropolis soundtrack, it's so eerie.

I loved the music in Fallout 3 (even when you're radio wasn't on, like when I was in a metro station and a heard a scary sound, ignored it, heard walking noices, drew my gun and looked around at darkness (didn't know about the pip-boy light then), then a feral ghoul shot out of the dark and i blew it's head off!) it set the mood and the DJ played more then the same four or five songs (I HATE MY JOHNNY!!!!!!!!).

I'd like to see a small coastal town that has been wiped out under mysterious reasons... You find clues all over the place and have to figure out what happened, how, and why...

But I'll still here it whenever I pass by another radio. :ahhh:

Do you not like the 1950s music? or are you just not keen on having any music in the games at all?

I tried playing with the ambient music off one time and it was.....unsettling, to say the least

and if the 1950s music was removed from the series and say, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N-Xs1tm-9-U, I would riot.

It's more that the old games did not have music except for the ambient tracks.
And I looooove the old games. HARD. (Picture me getting it on with Fallout 1's disc case. :hubbahubba:)

But really, I hate hearing music of any kind unless it's slow ambient tracks when playing Fallout.
So whenever I go into The Strip I just can't wait to get the hell out of there.
And whenever I find a radio I need to turn it off as fast as possible.
I tried listening to the music, I really did, but it doesn't fit in for me.
I could understand Three Dogs public service announcements.
And I can understand that Vegas with all it's glamor to have it's own radio.
But I don't think "every area" from now on should have radio. (In future games)
Makes it feel very forced and out of place.

How about we talk about what details you want about specific characters? (You know memorable characters unlike what F3 and Vegas were overflowing with)...

How about a Bounty Hunter who's HQ is on the edge of an Enclave remnants town (not evil tropps, civilians who made it out and carved their own home in the wastes). They allow any wasteland human to live there (to disguise them being ex-Enclave members) but don't allow anybody with any mutation their, and the Bounty Hunter is a ghoul but where's a gas mask all of the time...

I want a leader as inspiring and charismatic as John Henry Eden or Mr. House to make an appearance in Fallout 4.

Memorable characters?
TALIUS!

If new ones, how about a big fella with Tesla Metal Armor MK II and a stuffed bull head for a helmet?
This guy is... Really hostile... Like, really hostile if you say the wrong thing to him... But if you choose your wording right he is an all right fellah.
He's a former BOS member that together with his gang The Lords, collect all technology they can find, reassemble it or repair it and then sells away the tech to various factions, giving no one an upper edge and leaving them at a stalemate while he collects their precious money.

That's pretty cool... How about Reege, a large mutated (not a supermutant) creature who stands at eight feet tall... When he was a baby he somehow ended up in a pool of radiation which transformed him (the year was 2098)... He was imprisoned by a group called the Anti-Dangerous Mutant Society (A-DM Society) as a child (2104-2110)... Eventually he escaped and formed a small army of other mutated freaks who escaped the A-DM Society's imprisonment (2110-2293, if that's the year the game is)... If you help him end the A-DM Society then you can recruit him as a follower.

He wears the slave rags and chains that he wore before and during his escape. When asked about it he says, "I am still a prisoner of that society until I end their rain over all mutants. I am not worthy to wear anything put prison rags until their destruction, and even then I will where these rags until I die." which means he wears no other armor.
