Fallout NV Steam v1.2 Patch - renders Fallout useless

Post » Wed Sep 01, 2010 8:29 pm

gamesas

you selected steam to deliver this game.
When I bought this game I did not expect that I would have to get a steam account
and also install this software to be able to run Fallout New Vegas.

Now you brough out v1.2 and this bug fix patch renders this game useless
because it CTD when ever you want to start a new game, or load a saved game.

I paid 50 bucks for this game and simply demand to also have a working product.

I think this is at least the only thing a customer can expect.

So please make real professional decissions and deliver a working products
and not game damaging patches.

Thank you.

STEAM = good for indie games, bad for big time games.

Be happy you can even play it!

I love Steam - I love gamesas - and I hate the fact I cannot go to Bestbuy and give them back the CD and get my money back.

This is for me already close to theft and criminal action.

On the CD cover it does not mention Steam in anyway and you cannot even play FNW without internet.

What a joke. The absence of any comments from them also shows that they are incompetent and dont care since the money
went out.

I hope their great digital download content and game additions will not sell well.

With this incredible bad service they really do not deserve any success not should be allowed to sell this game.

LOL like for food and drugs there should be a FDA and sue ability for customers which protects them from companies and bad practice.

No offense, but read the back of the cover again. It does say you need a active Steam account. Granted it is in small print, but it is there.

True I saw that now. I only looked into the system spec field and thus overlooked it. My fault.

Steam or no steam...the latest patch causes my game to CTD on launch.

This after finally getting the game to play reasonably well by using USER MODIFICATIONS that made the game better than the makers did.

Instead of paying your failing staff so much money to break your game......why not take a look at what your PLAYERS have done to make your game work and use their ideas.

If I can't get this game to play by uninstalling and reinstalling it I'm going to call Ralph Nader and the Better Business Bureau and file a complaint against your company.

I don't mean to hate but when it comes to making a fun gaming product you guys are FAILING!

??

I was able to place steam in offline mode. Then start the game and load my last quick save on a 80+ hour game just fine. My XP install disk is so old I can't get the OS to use, or even see, the second CPU core. Make sure you have signed up for steam and are logged into your new account when you switch over to offline mode.

For your CTDs. Did you jump the gun and start installing mods right off the bat? Only repeatable CTD I've encountered was buying 2x boxes of .308 casings from a merchant. That was a instant CTD every time I tried to purchase them. That stopped the instant the merchant refreshed his inventory. Other than that it's just the highly random CTDs that has been part of Bethesda's games forever.

Edit: Bad idea to be going mod crazy with the devs releasing major patches. That's just asking for compatibility headaches. No, it's not even a remotely reasonable request to ask Obsidian, or Bethesda, to make sure their updates plays nice with all the mods on Nexus.

This is now the 7th fresh install and last try.

If this cannot get fixed tomorrow I will go to Bestbuy and demand my money back
even when I have to press legal complaints.

I agree with tiger8u2

this is plain unacceptable.

This product does not work - cannot work without steam - cannot prevent update
only runs offline when patched with 1.2 update.

and welcome to always CTD with a new game or load saved.

Got it, you are unhappy with Steam. Starting multiple threads on the topic is not necessary.
