Fallout 4 on steam says I don't own it anymore

Post » Sat Mar 12, 2016 7:58 am

So I have been playing Fallout 4 on steam for a while now. I have 20 hours on it, I purchased it from g2a. The play button doesn't say play anymore, it says purchase. Meaning it "unbought" itself? How can I fix this? I've contacted support but their links aren't working and It won't let me reply to them. If I send another question to them they send the same exact messages with the same broken links. I have deleted the Ini files, my computer meets minimum requirements, the game won't let me verify the game cache. How can I fix this?

I'm not saying this is definitely the case but sometimes keys that were purchased illegally (The seller using someone else's info to buy the key) get resold on G2A, without the end user (you) knowing where the key came from. Sometimes the keys are discovered and deactivated. I had this happen with a copy of ESO I bought on eBay. Best advice is to not use resellers to save a few dollars, because there's a chance you'll get a key from a shady person.

You get what you pay for... The Steam key was revoked, most likely due to a problem with how the key was acquired. G2A is a gray market vendor so developer can deactivate keys if they believe they were sold against their policies or they were plain out bought with a fraudulent source.

I really don't get the market for Steam key re-sellers, just buy Steam games when on sale. If you buy outside of the Steam store, make sure you use an authorized source.

Demand a refund from G2A, and buy the game from an authorized source.

I'd never even consider buying a Steam key from anywhere but Steam. Too risky. Saving a few bucks isn't worth having to spend sixty more.

Just to weigh in and repeat what others have said. If you want to save money find keys from legit sources such as Green Man Gaming, GOG, Humble (possibly CD Keys, they seem mostly ok I think) when they have sales on. You can find cracking deals.

Failing those, Amazon is usually at least £10 cheaper than steam for games and you get a disc.

Humble bundle is also legit - they sell steam keys like GMG.

It's best not to bother with ebay randoms or g2a - you don't know from where the keys come from.

Lesson is, check the goy if he's legit. G2A had a lot of situations like that. Sadly, you can't fix it other than contact seller and hoping for refund.

I meant CD Keys might be legit, Humble is fine. I didn't use punctuation right :P
