[WIPz] Fallout Stutter Remover (FSR)

Post » Sun Jan 31, 2010 6:52 pm

Get the latest beta version (which is also the first beta) from tesnexus:
http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=8886

Or get the lastest alpha version from my ftp server:
ftp://71.115.200.175/sr_Fallout_Stutter_Remover.dll

Heap replacement is not yet supported. Performance isn't great atm.

You need Fallout 3 version 1.7 for this to work.

You also need FOSE 1.2 beta 1 or later. Get it from the FOSE web page:
http://fose.silverlock.org/

I'm curious as to what exactly you mean. I have had many many less problems running Fallout 3 out of the box than I did with Oblivion. Also, Fallout 3 heavily modded is running much better with less management on my end than Oblivion heavily modded.

Would you mind filling me in on the particulars you are thinking of?

besides that many buildings and some other meshes have an unnecessary high poly count ...there are other issues ... for example... when i'm in megaton i have 80 fps if i go outside and come back i get only 30 or 40 fps .. this happens when you use the fast travel and entering and leaving places .. has to do something with cell buffering or something

Skyranger-

Very much look forward to your arrival on this scene - Optimizing of fallout 3 is very far behind Oblivion and needed.

If I could put in one request that would be for you to port over (make anew?) your exit game with no crash plugin.

such great news this is.

No problem. Maybe integrate it in to FSR and have an extra ini option FastExit or HookQuit or somesuch to enable/disable it.

You might want to look into your mods that alter MT or something because I persoanlly never run into Optimization issues if I go in and out of worldspaces -> just did a test where I went back and forth from magaton to Wasteland and back 10 times and my FPS did not drop one single frame -> its also worth mentioning that my FPS is a hell of a lot higher then yours I average 150+ in megaton and 100+ in the wasteland with every setting maxed out.

On the other hand I have run into mods that cause all kinds of issues like your describing: FPS loss -> crashing -> horrific scripting.... and all usually lead to FPS loss of some sort and eventually crashing.

Im curious if you could name off some of those mods you encountered that caused problems. Merely to see if its in my list and if i pull it it helps. Cause i to get some of what was described.

Lucky bums - I get maybe 30 fps max in Megaton. XD

Though, I really, really, really need to say that gothemasticator is completely right. I'm running Fallout with the same rig as I ran Oblivion, with more mods, and I have drastically better framerates and overall better everything.

Fallout 3 really improved upon the FPS leech that Oblivion was.

Though, I'm gonna get FSR as soon as it comes out. Frames saved means frames I can burn in combat with fifty ghouls. xD

BTW ... any chance that you'll release anything flying in the near future :D
do you have any clue why the static animated meshes do not show up ingame .. using latest niftools 3.5 ... it can be fixed by copy/pasteover of nitrishape over the original fallout mesh but when i paste in back into the ninode the trajectory of the animation gets messed up

Can't say for certain yet, but I think it will help. Some. No clue how much. Because of #3B and #4 above.

The stutter i is when my character is moving forward and the game will freeze for 2 seconds and fps will go from 75 my refresh rate down to 40s aand then will unfreeze and go back to 75 fps very annoying. Peopl get it while standing still and turning around in a circle. Is the stutter i recieve qualify for the stutter remover mod?

Not anything soon all of my mount/vehicles were designed for my main mod (which I will most likely never finish I only make these mods for myself, and they tend to reach further then any one person can realistically finish).

Any Meshes exported out of Max that are not skinned you have to go into the Shader Property and remove the Shadow Map flag as it DOES NOT do anything at all in relation to shadows its a skin instance related flag and any mesh that has this ticked without any skin info will be invisable In-Game and In-GECK.

If you PM me your .nif or any Max file that are Max 8 or less (I have Max 2K8 and 2K10 but I recently redid my computer and they are not installed, as I do not use them for modding FO3).

What do you guys use to measure framerate? I use FRAPS and with it, I get a constant 60 FPS.

I'm not familiar with that behavior, it doesn't sound like anything in Oblivion. Depending upon the cause #3B might help or might not. #4 probably wouldn't help that if it happens when just turning in place. No clue. I might be able to tell once I have Fallout.

What do you guys use to measure framerate? I use FRAPS and with it, I get a constant 60 FPS.

In Oblivion, for casual measurements I use toggle-debug-text and my eyes. For serious measurements I use Oblivion Stutter Remover and the setting bFPSConsoleSPAM, which prints to the console and to a log file every frame the number of milliseconds required to render the frame, the longest number of milliseconds that any frame in the last few seconds took, and a few other details. Literal numbers-of-frames-rendered-in-a-second like toggle-debug-text gives aren't much use since they don't tell you if that's 40 frames that took 25 milliseconds each or 39 frames that took 16 milliseconds each followed by one frame that took 376 milliseconds.

If skyranger-1 can do this, the 64hz fix would fix that kind of stutter I believe. EDIT: Skyranger-1 you can see this kind of stutter when spinning in a circle at high fps in oblivion when the 64hz fix is not enabled.
