Fallout NV stutter removers

I have so many post on here complaining about Fallout New Vegas, where do I even begin? Perhaps with stating that I have no stutter issues with Fallout 3. However Fallout New Vegas is a different monster indeed. Perhaps I should be like some and ignor the stuttering (As I still have good frame rates) and just play the game as the stuttering is mostly noticeable when moving side to side and not when moving forward.

Well, I guess some people over at Fallout New Vegas Nexus decided that they did not like the stuttering and have made some New Vegas stutter removers.

Only problem is - they require a decrypted falloutnv.exe which is only available through down loading a pirated/hacked falloutnv.exe - as steam's falloutnv.exe is encrypted. Just another reason why I dislike steam so much (Indeed, why can't we just have the full game on a CD. We don't need Steam or Windows Live). In truth, I would rather deal with one of the varous CD encryptions ( Yes, I even had to buy another DVD for the game Risen, because of this) than Steam or Windows live (As I consider both of these to be a low form of malware and addware. - Why should I have to give any personal information to play a game?).

Needless to say, If I want to try one of these stutter removers - I must break the law to do so, in addition to subjecting myself to all the Virus/Malware which can be found on the pirated sites. Something I am not willing to do.

In the end, I do not have to much faith that obsidian/bethesda software is really going to work to much on this stutter issue - as it seems to be a problem with their game engine. However, it would be nice to have the option of trying the communities fixes. I see this whole steam encryption thing as bad JuJu for those who really want to help by modding the falloutNV.exe

Well, the creator of the mod should release a version that doesn't require a decrypted exe since NVSE is out now.

I don't think you quite understand the diffrence between using steam in a program and copy protection.. steam dosn't encrypt the exe except during pre-loads. That's the choice of the software vendor. Steam add's some frameworks for online things and some other bits and bobs. it's not up to steam as to how an exe is protected against reverseing.

Authentication is the main thing that steam will do protectionwise. CD keys etc.

The unencrypted exe you are talking about will actually be an uncompressed exe and deprotected as it's std practice for most software vendors to use compression and/or security packages together. The debate as to weather or not it's steams fault for this is in my opinion not the right way to approach it. it's law in alot of countries to protect against reverseing copy right protections. It's the software vendors that decide ultimately the kind of protection to use.. I've seen a lot of games not use any super fancy copyprotection with steam.. just the intergration that requres you to either be logged in or go into offline mode. I have several games that don't have cd keys for example.

So it's a better idea to directly ask the software publishers why they use some times spastic copy protections and not to blame steam all the time.

They don't require a decrypted exe. The one called New Vegas 4 GB or something works with steam, and it enables you to use 4gb ram PLUS it also removes stutter...

...at least, that's what I would say, except it doesn't work with the latest patch :(

I may stand corrected on this issue. However, I do remember reading a obsidian/bethesda post (one or the other) that stated that steam was choosen for 2 reasons. One was because Microsoft Live is a shinking ship and the other was because steam offered encryption protection so it was not required on the game CD. However, I can not produce a link to this, as I have forgotten were I read it. Nevertheless, this all reverts back to the fact that I would like a stutter fix :brokencomputer:

Actually it does. You need to delete your FalloutNV.4gb.exe from your FONV folder and rerun fnv4gb.exe to rebuild the FalloutNV.4gb.exe.
