Fallout system of government ideas

Post » Thu May 03, 2012 1:51 pm

I've always wondered what I would change about the way the Fallout universe is governed. The universe gives openings for a new beginning as well as a new regime. Though there are already factions (NCR, BoS, Caesar's Legion, Enclave) that have made an attempt at diplomacy, America still remains divided. Using existing (Fallout universe) characters, factions, locations, and resources...what system would you use? Who would be at the top? Where would the capital be? etc. Please share!

I wouldn't mind seeing a trade federation. Nothing big as a huge federal government like the old world US, or anything, only about the size of 3 old world US states at the most.

Different reigions with different resources or goods produced by skilled labor, the creme de le creme of each reigion chairing a seat in the federated government and establishing an economy and some form of protection for their citizens.

Maybe the majority of the federation is leaning one way or another disenfranchising some of its trade groups, perhaps on eof those sides is getting too big causing the smaller group to seek recourse.. Perhaps some old world resource stockpile or tech is found and a new player emerges and threatens to take over or change the structure of the federation?

I would like to see camp vouchers applied to at least one of the groups, in leiu of real money.
Not necessarily slavery, but unwitting indentured servitude. A "sold my soul to the company store" kind of thing.

I think it works for essentially seting up sperate factions over a large(er) reigion, with unique ways of life/customs/culture in each trade group, givign the player a sense of progress as they extablish ties with new locations..

I don't want America to reform ever. It would just make the Great War feel like no big deal.

I want there to be at least ten countries ruling the US by the end of the series.

There would be conflicts between these nations but they would be peaceful overall.

War, war never changes. The old world sleeps, but i dont think the USA will ever be whole again, even if Houses dreams get realized, even if NCR bring democracy to the west, even if the Legion conquer and at last give the wasteland a civilization with a strong army. Hell even BoS are not focused on conquering, so they aint no validate candidates, and they are almost dead. Enclave, also almost dead, and their idea of bringing peace and prosperity is to wipe out everyone not them from the face of earth. A Indy Vegas would have a great chance for a small empire, but nothing that would reach throughout the country. In the end i think many others will rise from small establishments, hell, there are even too many people and too little territory in some places, so i am expecting the territories across america to blow, and might i add hoping. I think we will see alot of slavers, armies and groups of people (tribals, settlers ETC.) to rise and start trying to get big.

I wouldn't bet on there being much peace if "at least ten countries" are trying to get their hands in the cookie jar. The thought of international diplomacy is intriguing however...

The rise of civilians as tribes or small armies could very well fit the story. The major factions would be stunned.

I mean they would all be relatively peaceful by the end of the series.

Before that there would be plenty of war, more than we've had in the past couple of centuries.

I think it would be interesting if Fallout took an 'A Canticle For Leibowitz' approach; have the world eventually pick up the pieces, developing advanced societies, and eventually having the world destroy itself all over again. I think it would be a rather fitting finale for the Fallout series to be set in a time where the world stands on the verge of nuclear war, after having watched it develop over a number of games, and end leaving its fate largely ambiguous.

WHAT? Dude, i doubt that would happen in the next 500 years, and i dont think fallout will last so long. In the end i think either everyone dies, or USA is united, but i dont think they are gonna nuked themselves again.

I agree I think that is dumb. We are shown some societies want tothe develop andsome are developing new technology (like NCR and House) so nukes would eventually become obsolete.

This would make for a much better game than 2 major factions and you pick a side.

That would have happened if Van Buren aka Fallout 3 was never cancelled. :tops:

Jeez, it was just a thought, more of a wish, really. And besides, after only 200 years we already have a faction in the industrial era, it's not that much of a stretch to see technology advancing to that point in another 200 years.

I got the feeling the U.S. was done-zo (dunzo?). Complete opposite of the TV show "Jericho," for example (for those that have seen it - highly recommended if you haven't). Then again, I would dig a map of the U.S. detailing what cities got hit and things along those lines. Hell, I'll be honest and say I don't even know what "the Wasteland" encompasses (just D.C., D.C. and the surrounding area, how much of Maryland?, etc).
Unless this is all in the Fallout Timeline wiki I was told to read...

I do, however, think that multiple factions vying for control of the former U.S. would be great. If we were at war with China, then other countries not sympathetic to the West would definitely take advantage of our weakened state (or perhaps they are warring with those who ARE sympathetic?). Reminds me of "Mercenaries: Playground of Destruction" for the Xbox. If you favored the Russians or the Chinese or the South Koreans more then THAT is who would get the biggest chunk out of North Korea (the theater in which the game takes place).

Jericho was a great show. Too bad it was only 2 seasons though...it would have been interesting to see how the war between Cheyenne and Columbus played out.

More like one season and a third :( And I don't know if I would have liked to have seen the war between Cheyenne and Columbus. I mean, don't get me wrong. I'm ALL about backstory and minor details and all of that jazz and seeing how the war would pan out would so fantastic, but the show already got most of that out of the way. They could have, obviously, made the show last a full 2 seasons, I think, but I'm not sure about a complete 3rd season or even a 4th (see the ending they aired vs. the original ending if the show got the green light for a season 3). The show's small town/big secret feel would disappear, I think. I don't know if viewers would like that shift because the show wasn't really about that, but that's just my opinion. Excellent show and little did I realize how much of a cult following it had.
