It may just be me but a lot of the story in Fallout 3 seemed contrived. Like I suppose the reasons for why super mutants and the Enclave still exist and are on the east coast seem plausible but I feel like they did it just to show off. Like "its Fallout in 3-D! See what fighting the enemies from the first games would have been like!!!" It seemed like Bethseda was afraid to go too far from ideas from the original games. I understand why since Fallout fans complained over the slightest changes and I have no idea what they would have done if Bethseda added a new enemy but because of this it felt like Fallout 3 was just a collection of recycled ideas from the first two games in FPP.
So it seems like the Super-mutant and Enclave ideas have been completely played out and there is no logical way to bring them back for a fourth game so where should the story go from here? Who should the next enemy be?
My personal idea is that it should be set back on the West coast but with enough time having passed so Bethseda would not be too constrained by what happened in Fallout 2. I imagine things would be going well on the west coast with the NCR having brought order to the wastes and the G.E.C.K having made at least part of the waste grow again. But hows this for an enemy?
The Chinese.
After all, even though they have been mentioned alot no one has actually talked about what their government or technology was like. Maybe the Chinese were not as damaged as the U.S and managed to rally and are coming to finish what the great war started? Maybe their technology has evolved down a completly diferent path from our power armor and energy wepons? I think you could do a lot with a plot like that. Like maybe they could have a cyborg army or something.
Well, these are my ideas and opinions, what does everyone else think about Fallout 3's story and where it can go from here? Minimum Fallout 3 spoilers please.
