Fallout 1, 2, Tactics now all gone from GOG

(I would provide a link to the news post over on GOG but it won't let me)

What a shame. I hope GOG & Bethesda can make a deal to re-release them there, as well as get more of Bethesda's games released there - I'd be very interested in DRM-free copies of Fallout 3 & New Vegas, plus all the Elder Scrolls games (...and just about every other game in Bethesda's catalogue).

I doubt it'll happen any time soon (if at all).

Here's the link to the news, though:

Not too good news for a new years eve.

I can't load GOG right now, for anyone that got the free deal before, are you still able to redownload those copies?

My one laptop that has a toasted video card in it can barely run anything right, but thanks to whatever the GOG folks did to get their versions to run on newer machines - it runs just fine on it.

The work that they've done to it is what will be missed the most.

Actually I think it is good news that Fallout doens't have any connection anymore to this strange firm which is still called Interplay. Who canceled Van Buren, made POS, made false promises about an MMO, ...

Hopefully GOG works out a new deal with Bethesda/Zenimax (and yes it's new year so if it is happening it will take a while).

Their version of the classics are the best and GOG actually cared to get the games running on newer configurations. In contrary to the software renting service Steam who simply dump them on your harddisk without carrying if they work or not.

If you put an angle there that way, yes there is indeed something good to be found there. I'm amazed Herve still has that corpse of a company up on lifesupport, what ever it is he's doing to keep that thing running.

Still, it doesn't really help anyone who'd be interested in getting a stable and working version of the games through fair trade (not until they are up again, if they will be). Hopefully they do get at least some kind of deal going.
