Fallot Tactics Was a hybrid. It did have RPG elements but since you play a Squad leader you cant execute strategy and effect the big picture until the very end. It looks like they started to put more RPG elements in the game but did not complete implementation. On a tactical level the game is a lot of fun. I used to do a lot of wargaming so I liked it. But its not just a shootem up game there is a story line and it does make good sense. It was largely misunderstood and underated. I think a lot of it had to do with timeing.

It was misunderstood by the elite Fallout fans, who were disappointed that it wasn't a full blown RPG

The sequel would have been interesting, the premise of it at least. I found it was pretty fun, they managed to chuck all the typical Fallout mobs at you in a believable sort of way. Misunderstood ? How exactly ? And if they were disappointed with it not being an PRG< means they did understand it, just didn't exactly throw a party for it, heh.

I don't want a remake, I'd prefer a sequel.

Sure, but waht you wanted and what you got seem to be too different for you. It's not going to get any better, I think.

No, they weren't. Sure, we would have preferred Interplay to publish Fallout 3 instead, but it doesn't mean that people expected FOT to be FO3. Have you been around in the Fallout community back then? Most people in the fan community understood that it wasn't a full-blown RPG but a tactical spin-off. What they were disappointed in was the half-assed treatment of the Fallout setting.

That's about how I felt. Honestly, I didn't even have that much of a problem with their treatment of canon, either. (It also helped that it was a mission-based tactical game as opposed to an RPG - canon wasn't as much of an emphasis for me as if it were an RPG.) Frak, if you compare it to BoS, Tactics' treatment of the Fallout setting comes off as downright reverent.

I never said Fallout Tactics was a RPG, and not saying you said I said it was hah but just wanted to point that out. I like F3, Im on my 3rd character right now which im fixing to remake since I messed up on a couple perks but i have fun with the game after I hit 20. My favorite type of games are FPS, Ausir sounds like she/he isn't really into Fallout as is but thinking about it more the FPS route for F3 does appeal to more people across the board then going heli fallout tactics style so yea I agree. Id prefer it to be more like Tactics, when I say that I mean the combat, the look of the game etc.

Ya, I was, and I clearly remember a lot of drama over it. You're a fixture at NMA...go dredge up some threads back then and take a look.
