Fallout 4: The Hunt is On

Post » Sat Nov 28, 2015 7:36 am

So one of the things I really enjoy about Skyrim is being able to kill deer hunting or hunting other animals and being able to sell their meat and hides. It really adds immersion when you want to RP as hunter. Does anyone else hope to add in the option to hunt various wasteland critters and sell their meat and hides?

Yeah, as long as I don't have to kill the cuddly molerats.

Indeed. I don't like killing Mole Rats. Say what you want, but those little bastards are adorable. I feel horrible in Fallout 3 with the animal friend perk during Moira's mole rat quest. I feel like it's clubbing baby seals. :c

I think the only thing stopping you from doing this before was the amazingly sparse amount of wildlife there was to hunt.

SUre in New Vegas you could hunt Geckos, but...not as many as could be lucrative.

Wow, nice find! I never expected deer to be in Fallout game, much less brahmin deer. Looks cool.

Hunting or not, it would be nice to see non hostile wildlife, besides the random bird here and there.

Yeah, I hope we will see quite a few of them. Also, at 2:02 in the top left there seems to be what appears to be a bat. Should make spelunking interesting :)

We saw it in Skyrim....I don't see a reason that we shouldn't in FO4. All they have to do is add misc mutated wildlife. The only problem I have is how every creature you ever encounter in the wasteland is mutated as hell. Giant aggressive scorpions. Giant mutated rats. Giant mutated Geckos. Giant mutated demon wasps. Giant mutated (insert name here). Oh and regular ass dogs that are for some odd reason (at least to me) never mutated? I never got that part. Every animal that exists in the fallout world is mutated. Except dogs. Because reasons.

that was kind of a ridiculous aspect of the game tbh. it more was a result of the ai and aggro settings, you had every creature that breathed basically run/fly at you at full speed once they caught wind of you, which didn't make much sense. some of the wildlife should be survivors, not recklessly attack everything in their path. i can understand some things like cazadors, but i'm just hoping for a more fleshed out ai that gives a sense of personality and realism to the wildlife. ie. some things only attack if in groups, otherwise they would run away. somethings are docile until you get too close, etc

To be honest, its not the AI bothering me I was going for....but now that you mention it yea. That was pretty ridiculous. Not every animal would be super aggresive. What i was getting at is how every [censored] animal in the game is mutated like crazy. Except dogs. FO dogs are immune to radiation or something?

And dogs would probably be the first things to get all mutated up. Dogs eat anything they can. A dog wandering the wastes would eat so much irradiated crap, and be mutated beyond belief (well with videogame/FO logic)

Hahaha I'm a little embarrassed to say I didnt even think of that. I've always liked how animals mutated just for diverse enemies but that is a good point. Maybe it's because dogs were in vaults or with people idk. I definitely agree about better A.I and hopefully diverse wildlife and hunting.

The 2 headed Elk concept art bodes well for opportunities to hunt, also there is concept art of the guy hunting mirelurks.

But if hunting your garden verity mutants and crab people gets a little boring....well...you can always try hunting The Most Dangerous Game.

Irradiated Bigfoot.

Irradiated Bigfoot is the most dangerous game.

What? You thought I meant people? No...Thats crazy talk.

This should highly inflate the praise of mounted taxidermined deer heads. Fallout 4 will be a dark age for people that like hunting for profit. You would have to deal with double the carry weight for the same price as one deer head.

Hunting never blew air up my skirt.

As far as the two-headed reindeer in the concept art are concerned, I think it'd be fun to have a winter wasteland super mutant Santa Claus in a sleigh pulled by a bunch of two-headed reindeer, where the lead reindeer could even be like a glowing-one ghoul :D

Winter Wasteland Super Mutant Santa Claus!

He could even have tiny dwarf mutants, or tiny dwarf ghouls to represent elves with him :)

I think it'd be very plausible with a Wild Wild Wasteland perk in effect.
