Is Fallout 4 the next Civilization or Minecraft?

That's not a criticism, these are optional elements of the game,

but I was just setting out from my settlement on a quest and I though:

'oh, I really want to straighten out that picket fence...'

An hour later I'm still fencing...

And with modding, (particularly some 'packs' for console) I can anticipate sufficiently low memory assets, but in a miriad variety

that will keep me busy indefinitely.

Has the settlement building been a revelation to you?

its certainly very indepth and allows for lots of options for building.

i think its a bit complicated for me though.

i have issues with the wiring of things from generators. seems very fiddly.

i wish that the generators worked a bit like rts games. whereby you place a generator down and it gives off an invisible area where everything in that area is powered.

wiring could be for aesthetics then but not essential to get things powered.

but thats me.

I read earlier that if you wire a generator to a pole then the pole has a radial area of influence. Not sure of the distance but possibly one per property.

It is a fun feature, gives some refreshment to a series that had 4 installments. I look forward to what mods will do to make it more complex.

Sounds like fun to me. Not sure though how it actually plays out.

My main issue is that I can not zoom out enough, would also be nice to could see things more from above.

And yes mods will flesh this out, more wall types is needed.

Also more fun stuff of all types.

If you are on PC, http://www.pcgamer.com/how-to-tweak-fallout-4s-hidden-graphics-options/.

But yes, we need more wall types. I want something less rusty, though maybe the game unlocks such stuff later on.

And big yes to more fun stuff. I hope we get a mod that adds dynamic events like riots, settlements wanting special agreements, factions opening outposts, etc. and have choices and consequences.
