The Courser is the primary instrument of the SRB, a third-generation synth assigned to operate on the surface. Coursers hunt down and reclaim synths that have escaped the Institute. They are highly self-sufficient, trained in combat, infiltration and tracking. In a word, Coursers are relentless. Coursers are drawn from the third generation synth population, constantly monitored for tenacity, fearlessness, and independence. These undergo a rigorous training regimen. They are taught armed and unarmed combat, investigative techniques, psychology and mechanical skills. Those who pass a final evaluation become Coursers, re-registered as X (eg. X6-88) or Z (eg. Z2-47) synths. The rest have their memories wiped and return to their former duties.
One day whilst aboard the Prydwen or inside the castle, railroad HQ or the institute you are approached by the respective leader of that faction and informed that a recent patrol carrying an important piece of pre war technology has gone dark. After traveling to their last known coordinates you follow the distress signal with your pip boy and find the bodies of the patrol scattered amongst the remains of a pre war cabin. The body of the patrol leader sits upright in the corner with the beacon clutched in his hand…and an arrow lodged in his eye. You remove and inspect the arrow and find that it is made of steel and painted black with purple fletching. With no sign of the tech you take the arrow and report back to the leader of your chosen faction. During your explanation of what you found you show them the arrow to which they become flustered and after taking it ask you to meet them alone that evening. They then precede to tell you the story of a rouge synth that escaped from the institute many years ago and used the same arrows however it headed to far south (or north) for any coursers to find it. You are then given the task to travel outside the commonwealth to reclaim the pre war technology.
Upon your arrival in the new map you encounter a group of people who speak of someone that moves in shadow and strikes from the darkness, capable of wiping out whole camps without making a sound. You soon learn that this “someone” is the synth your looking for. However it is not just any rouge synth that your dealing with, it is a courser. The first courser, X0-01. Codenamed…
Nightshade.

I present to you.
Fallout 4: The Wraith
Thank you all so much for your time, I am a massive fallout/Bethesda fan and have had this idea for a while now but after reading “The Art Of Fallout 4” I realized it may not be as far fetched as I once thought. I have a plethora of more ideas concerning this DLC ranging from new characters to creatures to quests even lore (unfortunately a better name is not among them). However I am not going to describe the whole thing in one post. If you have any questions or would like to hear more feel free to message me. Thanks again and have a wonderful day.
