Fallout 3 had too strong of a pull. It basically 'forced' you to do the Main Quest, while the other was casual... Well more.
I disargree because when you leave the vault in fo3 you can basicly go anywhere you want and in new vegas you get punished by deathclaws if you try to explore to the north.
In fallout 3 there was some nostalgia for that country called United States of America it was a patriotic game, so to speak. New Vegas does not have that, I admit it. But the faction sistem is the bomb.

Yet you can kill supermutants with your hunting rifle at level 5 as easily as with you plasma rifle at level 15.
