Fallout 2 Time Limit?

Post » Wed Mar 17, 2010 12:03 am

Was just curious if Fallout 2 (like Fallout 1) has a time limit for you to find the GECK in order to save your village. I had just made it to Vault City, and was resting to get my party healed, when I got a cut scene with the village shaman talking about the status of the village and how I must help. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I think there is a cut off point ( ahvent played in a while ) but you are given plenty of time to mess around.

13 years of game time, before you are cut off.

Good to hear, appreciate it titan...don't imagine I'll be wandering around the wastes for 13 years.

But i guess that if you don't find geck/V13/SanFran before the last dream, the game's over, because your village dies of hunger... I'm not sure it ever happened to me, but I have this blurry information deep in my head...

You guess wrong. They just get kidnapped by the Enclave, no matter what.

ok, you're right,...the village dies, but just the regular way... no timelimit except for the 13 years (and there are utilities to handle that)

Had another quick question regarding Fallout 2 (didn't want to start a new thread for just this). I tried recruiting Cassidy in Vault City to join me, but he said something like "Looks like you have enough company already" even though I only have 2 followers. I thought I read somewhere that you can have up to 4, with the option of 5 with a perk, what gives?

The Party limit is Charisma/2, with a perk to increase this by 1.

There's a pair of sunglasses that can increase your Charisma by 1 in
Spoiler
Reno
, you can also take mentants for a temporary boost to get him.

Hey appreciate the info agent_c. I'm guessing that after the mentats wear off, he'll still be in my party, correct? And you mentioned glasses that can permanently increase SPECIAL skills, are there any other items that permanently increase those stats, or ways of increasing them like the Brotherhood training in Fallout 1?

There are a few. Do you want spoilers or hints? I'll start with pointing you in the right direction. In NCR there is a way to increase your Luck by 2, but save before you try it, I've heard of a glitch that could decrease another stat or something. Also, you can come across stat-increasing modules (just little computer-like chips really) in your travels which you can use on a certain computer to increase some stats. If memory serves me right there are modules for Charisma, Intelligence and Perception. These modules can be found in some of the more hard to get places, so watch your surroundings when you enter some hostile places with enough firepower to destroy a small army.

When the mentants wear off, he'll remain in your party, but if you ask someone to leave or stay they wont rejoin.

The Glasses you'll need to keep in your active inventory slot for them to be effective. They are the only item I can recall that increases special

There are operations, you may have picked up an odd coloured chip, which can be used later in the game
Spoiler
Brotherhood base in San Fran
to improve some stats. There is also a religious group
Spoiler
Hubologists
that has the chance of increasing your luck, or decreasing it.

Wow, come on, do you really want to tell him everything? I don't know about you, but for me finding out this all on my own is half of the fun a RPG can offer :)

Spoiler tags. Its his choice if he wants to use it or not.

In any case, I'm sure he knows how to use google, and can find it if he really wants to.
