Fallout: Total War Mod

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 6:17 am

No offense but Civ would be for someone who finds the Total War series a bit too complicated. I could barely play the newest one... I'm not really sure how it could compare to Rome: Total War, a much older game.

we cant' play as the enclave!!!!???? or am I just dumb and didn't read well enough through it?

Vertibirds for the win...

anyway, great progress. If you had a mod page for this I would follow it.

Unfortunately I can't get players to start on the Enclave correctly, or the game crashes. :cryvaultboy: In skirmish battles you can play as the Enclave however.

We can't :sadvaultboy: And I don't know if the total war engien will support flying stuff :P

It can support flying stuff, just not flying stuff shooting missles at everything.
awesome idea. But why does it have to be a mod? Why can't it just be an official Fallout 4? Think big Bethesda, I say!

(good luck with it though!)

Thanks, but if it was the offical Fallout 4 there would be more complaints than Alpha Protocol. :blush2:

Post frequently with questions and I could keep you informed or answer any other questions.

That was an april fool's joke, I rick roll'd people.

But the actual trailer should be ready in a while, but the Mod is not ready as it has alot of bugs needing to be hammered.

Then have it as a http://images3.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20100212191842/fallout/images/6/6c/Fo2_Vertibird_Clean_2.png, as it was in Fallout 2 :)

Oh, and I'd actually like mounted units in this :/ I know everyone would be against it though, but I just think NCR troopers fit perfectly on horses (which extinction I refuse to believe in) because it looks so WW1, and WW1 fascinates me with the mix of old tactics (cavalry charges with lances, charging against enemy fire, hand-to-hand trench combat) and new technology (machine guns, mustard gas, tanks, planes). I'm sorry, but I am constantly thinking http://images4.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20110323101849/fallout/images/f/fe/Troopers_concept.jpg (Edit: Why would those troopers wear those old-school riding breeches if they don't ride? Eh?) as http://lh5.ggpht.com/_MT0oUK8BxDY/StbxN1mX5II/AAAAAAAAB20/QU5LTOexJKM/a%20british%20soldier%20in%20a%20conquered%20enemy%20trench.jpg, they look very similar. Also can't get http://images3.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20101227035027/fallout/images/9/98/FNVAR_Horses.jpg out of my head, it looks so right.

If not horses (or other mounts), you have to add something spaced out like http://blog.modernmechanix.com/mags/MechanixIllustrated/4-1956/helicopter_cavalry/helicopter_cavalry_0.jpg! :D

You know, I was intially against the idea of the NCR having calvary forces, but after your WWI comparison, I've had a change of heart, it does seem to fit right in.

Matched combat.

Don't know what that is, but Ill assume it is what Lt. said.

snipity snip

Cool. Sounds intersting might have to get this game and try it out. And download this mod.

I love Civ, I do get bored of it, but I do play it quite a bit.

Civilization is fun and all, but it's all overly simple and can't express the dark tone of Fallout (Fallout 2, you were just too silly.)

But actually, Total War is basically two games where one is played on a turned based world map where you send assassin's, armies, diplomats, construct buildings and forts and etc, while the other part is RTS combat in very fun battles.

You can auto resolve battles on the world map if you are a City Building typed person. (I am one actually, but I like getting into games so I tend to go into battles now.)

I always thought that Civ was a more complex game, compared to most games these days. I do like complex Civ building games, the more complex the better. Of course overly complex can be bad.

Sounds cool, I might get it. Of course there are many games coming out that look good, so maybe, maybe not.

Not the area's we have seen, there will not be a Capital Wasteland. (It will go East however.)

I've already removed 80% of the Calvary units and if I readded them it would only be Camel Gunners with a retexture.

Gameplay-wise TW is more complex with the Income/Corruption scales in cities, Unrest/Happiness, Law and Taxing along with rebelious generals and etc, but as I said earlier the World Map half of TW is construction and planning so if you enjoyed doing those you should have fun with TW as well.

I know, mounted NCR troopers has always fit in for me because I've always thougt of them as WW1 soldiers.

Well, yeah, exactly. Was my thought. Just a unit that could get around and behind an enemy fast. Does any other faction have that? Then the horses would be unique to the NCR, if Ceasar's Legion didn't get them aswell, or another kind of mount, but then I'd prefer them having melee cavalry... or maybe http://m2tw.warlore.org/units/Reiters http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reiters, using pistols and then charge in with spears.

Cavalry units would be much rarer in armies than they are in MTW2 though, I do think horses still exist in the Fallout world but not enough of them to have an army of riders. I think horses in the Fallout world would be used more for scouting missions and such, not direct combat, but you could use them in combat to mock the flanks of melee squads, and chase down fleeing enemies.

Who has the camel gunners, and who has the gothic knights? NCR and CL respectively? What's wrong with the reiters? They're both ranged and melee :'(

Also, cavalry in the post-apocalypse feels so right also because of http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PD75cLjvRwA, although the movie is a bit too patriotic for my taste, but they've got awesome uniforms, those "bad guys"

Camel Gunners if implemented will be high cost mercenaries, and the Gothic knights can go anywhere.
