The "That's cool" crowd should be everybody... it's natural to want 'cool' things in a video game. There should be no specified 'crowd' for thinking something is cool. What are you even talking about?

I really don't know what you are complaining about.
I think the graphics look awesome, and I don't see much what reminds me of a cartoon.
A dog as a companion has always been an option, what would you show in the presentation?
Someone like Raul Tejada? I like the guy, but showing a 200 year old ugly Mexican who apparently has nothing better to do than following the courier around and doing maintenance for him could really backfire.
(Stereotypes! Racism! Whatever!) No such risk with a dog.
Drag and drop? I don't even know whats supposed to be bad about that. Its just a different system that allows you to make yourself as ugly or beautiful as your skills allow (or don't allow) you to.
Having 8 sliders or 10 options in 5 categories surely wasn't the ultimate way to do this either.
I'm disappointed with this thread.
Comedy whining along the lines of 'Bethesda sold out by trying to make the game too popular'
should have more laughs rather than dry entitled grumbling.
Never mind, nothing is going to dent my enthusiasm,
the game looks super, and the E3 showcase was marketing genius.
Whilst it won't be my choice, I suspect you can still shoot the dog if you really want to...
Well you get big, you get less original. Morrowind was way out there. But now.. I guess if I had worked on that and was still working at gamesas today, I'd be considering a carreer with a younger company.
"My desires are objectively superior primarily because they're miiiiiine."
It's funny, because I'm of the mind that Skyrim is a huge return to form of what made Morrowind so great, particularly the complex politics and world-building that Oblivion lacked. Skyrim's only "fault" compared to Morrowind was that it was viking fantasy instead of sci-fi giant bug fantasy. Of course, the thing about Morrowind was that there was nothing else like it when it came out; the world was weird, you could go anywhere in it, read every book, pick up every clutter item, the NPCs have the same stats and capabilities as the player character, etc. Even if Bethesda did another game with as weir a setting as Morrowind (like Black Marsh or Valenwood), they couldn't capture that feeling again.
Damn, they made things easier to use and introduced new well-polished mechanics. They also added a dog, just like every other Fallout game. And they changed the art style a bit as well as developed two completely optional phone apps.
FILTHY [censored] CASUALS
I know the dog is invulnerable once a companion.
Whether it is invulnerable to your Plasma Rifle before hand is another matter
"ITS POPULAR NOW IT SUKS!!!!"
Seriously? they made a phone app because they wanted to.
Dogs make great companions, like thats a thing they do in real life. In fact implying that fable was the first game with a dog companion is silly when all the fallout games have had a dog to wander around with you, its just now hopefully the dog is useful and not suicidal in its stupidity. Plus completely optional amigo.
And are you really mad about intuitive character creation? Would sliders have made it better?
Also base building is a super popular idea, check out the wasteland defense mod for fallout new vegas, its pretty damn awesome (I actually recommend alchestbreach's videos on it, that guys a goofy bastard)
The cinematic dialogue is a thing that lots of folks don't like, but personally i think its a massive step ahead over frozen stills of people with text reply.
Trendy? geezus trendy has to be the most awkward thing i've heard someone say, why not use popular instead?
Closed for flying personal insults and flaming throughout the thread.
