Fallout trilogy bug

Post » Sun Sep 26, 2010 9:49 pm

Fallout 2 in my copy of the the Fallout trilogy doesn't play the music. The sound effects and voices work, but the music doesn't.
Is this a normally encountered bug on the trilogy pack?

Don't know if this is the problem, but it's worth checking off the list:

The music in the cutscenes work, I'm talking about the background gameplay music. I know that there is music, I've seen youtube videos where the music plays.

The music in the cutscenes is integrated into the video file, so that doesn't matter. That gamefaqs post is a good place to start.

FO2 is known to be buggy, even when it wasn't part of the Fallout Trilogy pack... this could be a symptom of it's natural buggy-ness.

Be careful, playing without the patches can really screw up your game. I suggest getting the latest official patches and even Killap's Restoration Project for your next playthrough (or possibly even right now, if you're not too far into the game). You can easily find and download them through NMA.

i appreciate the suggestion.
i just beat the game yesterday with my first character, so i won't mess with it for now, but i'll definitely look into that.

If you ever decide to start another playthrough, definitely don't forget Killap's Restoration Project after the official patches. Works great and it adds some new locations/towns and additional areas to visit in some of the already existing towns. Makes for a more complete playthrough. For instance, in the Den you can take out the skeleton crew with Tara at the church, but you never find out what happens with Tyler. In the Restoration Project you can take him down too.

i'll look that up.
my first character was a complete run n' gunner, and i missed out on a TON of stuff so i'll be starting over again soon.
thinking about starting with at least 8 or 9 INT to open up some epic conversations.
