Interplay has released a new Fallout Tactics patch, fixing some problems with the Fallout Trilogy edition:

If you have the new Fallout Trilogy, and you are encountering a black screen and hourglass when trying to load Fallout Tactics, we have a patch for you:

Download and execute patch from http://www.interplay.com/downloads/DSPatch.exe

If you are able to play Tactics, you do not need this patch. It fixes a compatibility issue with some versions of Windows Vista/XP. Most players will not need this patch.

pax,
-Chris

By the way, Interplay's Fallout Trilogy pack has recently hit NPD's top 10 bestseller list!

This is good, Fallout 1 & 2 are finally getting the recognition they deserve.

I would get it, but I'm not too sure about this Fallout: Tactics...

Its a great game, it has a turn based mode and a real time mode, but is more about combat and killing than story, and plot.
Still a great game though.

I don't know if I'd go so far as to call it "great", but it's certainly not bad. It's just that combat was never really Fallout's strong suit, and even with Tactics' changes that still holds true.

Combat is perhaps my favorite part of the series, and is FO:Tactics 1 saving grace. I'm truly disappointed that its combat system was not expanded upon and used in FO3. :(

Fallout Tactics, form a combat point of view, was a very good game: They fixed most of the combat annoyances from teh original Fallouts, including the highly annoying and craptastic follower AI, by removing it from the game.
