If you have the new Fallout Trilogy, and you are encountering a black screen and hourglass when trying to load Fallout Tactics, we have a patch for you:

Download and execute patch from http://www.gamesas.com/downloads/DSPatch.exe

If you are able to play Tactics, you do not need this patch. It fixes a compatibility issue with some versions of Windows Vista/XP. Most players will not need this patch.

I just got Fallout trilogy and have tried to create a custom character. There seems to be a bug that makes your custom character's skill sheet reflect the stats of the pre-made character who happens to be onscreen when you click the button to create a new character. For example, if you start a game and choose to create a character, your created character's skill set will be based on Max Stone's SPECIAL traits regardless of what you choose. If you switch the character to Natalia and choose the option to create a character, your created character's skill sheet will be based on Natalia's SPECIAL stats. There seems to be no way to get the skill set to coincide with the SPECIAL traits I choose for my custom character. I hope there is a fix in the works for this problem because the way the game is now, one cannot actually play a truly self-created custom character.

When you are choosing a character, there should be four buttons. Take in the upper left, Modify in the upper right, Create Character in the bottom left, and Back in the bottom right. If you pick Create Character you should have a blank slate to work from with no skills or traits selected, and all SPECIAL stats at 5.

OTOH, if you select Modify, you will start with the skills, traits, and SPECIAL stats of the character you are currently viewing as you describe. Here, you should be able to change the skills by first deselecting one of the skills already chosen by clicking on the red button to the left of the skill. Then you should be able to select a new skill. Same goes for the traits.

i have a problem with the loading of tactics, i have a new copy on dvd and i'm running it on a vista system, it tells me to insert a tactics disc when i go to play it even though it is in the dvd rom. i have patched it and added the bonus material but still not working, any help would be appreciated

Uninstall, reinstall and try running it without patching.

MY fallout 1 & 2 work great but my tactics keeps flickering, running vista ultamite 64 bit 9800 gx2

I seem to have the same problem as elcaro and uninstalling and reinstalling just doesn′t seem to make it work. The game keeps asking me to put in a fallout tactics cd and all i have is the fallout collection DVD...
Tried everything i can come up with, but i′m still falling short. Any help would be grand

Hi, I bought the fallout tactics game by itself, it is the re-released version that says it will run on XP/Vista, when I try to load the game up it says to insert the fallout tactics disc, I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling several times to no avail. Please help, I am really excited to play FOT again after so many years away from it!

any updates on this issue? I really want to play FOT as it was my fave game a few years ago
