Is Fallout 4 using the full power of the PS4 and XBOX One?

Post » Sun Jan 17, 2016 6:44 pm

Was wondering if Fallout is using the full power of the PS4/Xbox One or at least close to it. Cause i want Elder Scrolls 6 to be even more epic, with better graphics and even more npcs and stuff happening on screen. But if Fallout is already pushing the limit of the PS4 and Xbox One then there isn't much hope that ES6 would be that much better.

I would say the PS4 and XBox aren't capable of running Fallout 4 at its max potential.

I guess you're right with the loading screen being long as [censored] even on the PC. This really svcks that means Elder Scroll 6 won't be any better. Was hoping Elder Scroll 6 would at least be like what Skyrim was to Fallout 3. Even tho we're on PC, this effects us too sadly since the game is gonna be ported to the pc from the console.

In two years, when ES6 comes out, you will be ready for a new console anyway.

I just wish Bethesda would release Skyrim using the 64 bit Fallout 4 engine.

That one I would pre order.

Well there was a HUGE difference between Oblivion/Fallout 3/New Vegas to Skyrim, so I am sure Bethesda will make another big difference between Fallout 4 and Elder Scrolls VI.

Well skyrim and oblivion both came out on one console generation so there is hope.

FO4 isn't that well optimized anyway, plus we have to wait and see if they want to change their Engine..

But at the time Fallout 3 and Oblivion came out, they weren't using the full power of the PS3 and Xbox 360. With Fallout 4 we're not sure since it takes pretty long to load if it's not indoors. But i do hope you're right.

PS3 lasted 7 years and the Xbox 360 lasted 8 so the PS4 and Xbox One would most likely last till 2020 thats why i'm hoping Fallout 4 didn't already push the consoles near it's limit for Elder Scrolls 6's sake lol. But with how long it takes to load especially when you go outdoors, it isn't looking good.

Long loading times? Maybe playing on the Xbox One Elite, I don't see these long load times. Just curious, how long are your loading times? For me they seem the same as it was for Skyrim or Fallout 3/New Vegas.

If the consoles were not near their limit, the fps would be 60 and not 30.

The PS4 has an extra core and a better gpu, so some room for improvement there.

I will go out on a limb here - and say ENB (if it comes to consoles) and 4k texture mods will do nothing to improve console performance. DLCs should run as well as the base game.

This generation has been nowhere near as innovative as the last, the difference between PS1 to PS2 or Xbox to Xbox 360 was far larger than the difference between PS3 to PS4 and Xbox 360 to Xbox One, these consoles already feel well dated

Loading screens are much shorter on Fallout 4 than on Skyrim (Xbox One vs 360).

It's impossible to use full power on the XBox One since Microsoft steals nearly 20% to run its ridiculous apps. If they dropped this down to 10% or less, we'd get a better game.

Instead, we get fog, missing foliage, and exceptional stuttering every time it rains.

I own an Xbox 1 and play games on it. With that said it as well as the ps4 are pieces of crap. They need to make a console with extreme power that can handle things a computer can. For $400-$500 you would think they would be more powerful machines. I think most gamers would be fine paying a few hundred dollars more for a machine 3 times stronger.

No way to develop a console using current processing as it took how many years for the current to be a blip..

They can make them much stronger. I have seen console PC hybrid machines with insane power... The companies that own the consoles are just cheap and would rather produce junk. They make all thier money on games; they normally break even or lose money on consoles from my understanding

That is assuming that there is an ES6. ESO makes the chances of ES6 more complicated. ESO pulled an TOR where it is about a thousand years before Skyrim and SWG was cancelled right before TOR was released so Zenimax could do the same thing. Then you have the Warcraft games that were no longer made after WoW was released. So until we have the huge announcement for ES6, then there is the possibility that ES6 won't exist.

I would be more worried if ESO were a better game, and done by Bethesda.

Note too that I don't need an ES 6 - I would be happy with a re-release of ES 5 on a 64 bit engine. Well that is not quite true - I also need ES6.

It will. ESO and the Elder Scrolls Series are made by different studios under Zinimax Media Inc. They set ESO before the series so one does not influence the other.

SWG and TOR were made by different studios so it all depends on the person in charge of the Elders Scroll IP for whether there will be any influence between the two games. Zenimax is in charge of Bethesda so they could announce that the resources that were going to ES6 will now be going to ESO. ES6 will cost about $60 per person with DLC that puts it to $100 while ESO can be anywhere from free to spending thousands of dollars per person. So spending millions of dollars on a new ESO expansion could bring more players to ESO to get caught in the addiction of MMOs. Of course, it could backlash and cause a ton of ESO players to leave due to waiting for ES6.
