Hey there folks,
Just wanted to chime in with my opinion here, after playing for 169 hours (according to Steam) since release.
I am a veteran of both all the Fallout games, and the U.S. Military, to clarify my subject line.
I loved Fallout and Fallout 2 when they came out in the late 90s. They were pretty much the best games I'd ever seen at that point. I played them over and over, I still actually go back and play around in them to this day when I wax nostalgic.
I've seen a lot of opinions that claim Fallout 4 is not a "Fallout" game. I have no idea why. I am so very immersed in this game world it's amazing. So they changed how we customize our character a bit. It's really not THAT much different from the old style, the perks are much more focused, and I think the system works really well. I've finished the game twice now, with two different endings, and I know there are others that I can choose as I keep going back and making different choices. The endings that my choices led me to were *very* different. Not just minor differences, but completely different outcomes and results.
I am very impressed with FO4, however, there are a few things that I think might need to be tweaked in patches going forward. (you guys had to know this was coming!) The most glaring thing I can see that could be improved is how loot drops are addressed. At level 75, I am overcoming foes that are "Legendary", and very difficult battles. However, I'm receiving rewards that would be appropriate for a 1-5 level character, not a level 75. It seems that the legendary drops do not scale at all. Once in a while I get something that I can modify to work for me, but most of the time, the items are just so weak that no modifications would possibly get them to the point where they would be useful to me.
I know this is nit-picky, but it would be nice to see items that I can say "Wow!" when I inspect the legendary critter I just battled and overcame.
Other than that, the little bugs and annoyances I have seen are really minor, and I'm sure will be addressed going forward. Over all I am enjoying the game an awful lot, gamesas hit a home run with this in my opinion.
P.S. I absolutely LOVE Piper. She is my favorite companion, hands down. "Hmmm.... ...... What's that for?"
Cheers, y'all.
Eric
