Hello, super hyped for fallout 4 will there be a list of names that have been recorded we can use to prepare to use the full extent of Fallout 4?

Probably not officially, although it won't take long for people to make a list. We might even be able to get a list out of the game files themselves on release. It's not that big a deal when only one character can pronounce the names anyway.

Im sure more than just godsworth and yourself say the name, im sure there are more parts and anyway some players might like that feature like yours truly, its just an itching question i would like answered

Pretty sure Codsworth's is the only voice actor who recorded the spoken names.

A guy on Reddit was putting together a list of names by testing them in-game, one by one. Definitely nowhere near a comprehensive list, but if you're looking for a particular name, you might find it.

I was hoping bethesda would be lik "Oh you wanna use a feature we already said you can use in E3 and want the non spoiling list for it? sure her you go."

They said the list was of common names. I am not sure how BGS determined what were the top 1000 common names. I am quite certain that Frank is in the list and equally certain it would be best to avoid names like Dweezil and Moon Unit.

There was a comment that the NPC voiced by Linda Carter (aka Wonder Woman) knows your character - now, whether that means she also speaks your name or not, I have no clue. In addition, since all Mr. Handys have the same voice, I am sure that at least a few modders will add in that capability to additional Mr. Handys - if only for Quests the modders put in the game. And, of course, we do not know if your name is spoken by any other NPC. It might be, it might not be. Either way, I'm looking forward to it.

I'm thinking the pay scale difference for the voice actor portraying Codsworth and Lynda Carter was enough to make having her repeat the same line 1,000 times cost prohibitive for such a limited return.

Im pretty sure it is just Codsworth. I read an interview ,I can't find it sadly, but when Todd Howard was asked about the list of names he talks solely about Codsworth and how he says them.

Mr. Handy! We talked about that a lot. We asked 'what if you record the thousand most popular names? How long would that take?' Because just imagine that when you type your name in and turn around the robot says it. That moment! I tell you even now when I play the game I type something and I turn around 'oh [censored] yeah he says the name! That's awesome!' So that turned out great.

They've only ever talked about Codsworth saying your name, so I'm pretty sure he's the only one who does.

I don't see the thread on Reddit anymore, but if you really want your character's name spoken, you'll be able to test names for yourself pretty easily. They've broken up character generation into two parts. After you do the face-gen and choose your gender, save your game (I've seen in the leaks that you can save during that part of the game). You assign your name when you talk to the Vault-Tec rep who comes to the door, and Codsworth says it just after that. So, choose a name, see if Codsworth uses it, and if he doesn't, reload your save and try another name.

I wish bethesda could just release a list its not that big a deal. I seriously doubt codsworth is the only thing in the wasteland that says your name.

The list of names is about the only secret FO4 has left. Seriously I'm already thinking about FO5.

I'm pretty sure Todd Howard, or Pete Hines said they didn't want to release the list, because they didn't want anyone to refrain from picking a name not on the list.

Not only am I hoping the names I have in mind are voiced, but I am also hoping they are NOT gender specific. In other words, I can name a female Jack/Shane/Alex or a male as Sasha. I have been asking the devs on twitter but no response yet.

I'm sure they'll be listed somewhere in the game guide and it'll only take a short period of time after that's released that they'll show up on the intrawebs.

I doubt they're gender specific. No reason for them to be. Alex is gender neutral anyway.

You'd be surprised how some people would rationalize it being based on gender flags. But I have faith gamesas wouldn't do that.

Doubt they'd set gender tags for names since it would just be more work. Way easier to leave the list open for all.
