WE AREN'T ASKING FOR THEM TO REPLACE REAL TIME. "No body wants that", way to go ahead and act like you speak for the millions of people who play RPGs. How? The same bloody was a [censored] modder was able to, you think that they are not as skilled as some modder, well i actually give them credit, unlike some of you.

Calm down. I guess i need to put in IMO after every sentence because some people dont know when its a opinion apparently. Im pretty sure your now acting like the majority "WE AREN'T ASKING..."

the Design philosophy of choices have consequences didn't just relate to the story, it Filtered down to the game play as well, turn based combat was a perfect fit. you should have to think about how to approach a situation. and how to act. in turn based combat you cant do everything like you can right now. you have a certain amount of action points to spend every turn (5 seconds) derived from your stats (agility). you cant just run 50 feet and expect to do anything with any semblance of accuracy. you have to manage you action points and you position on screen vs what your fighting. as well as if your going to fight back. (sometimes it was best to run away because you were over your head) moving takes time (ap) setting up, aiming and shooting takes time (ap), even standing still takes time (any unused AP gets translated in to a dodge modifier and Ups your AC making it harder to hit you)

if you want realtime so much I think time should flow while your in your pipboy menus. you can do all sorts of non realtime stuff in your pipboy like healing to full (outside of hardcoe mode), Pulling a weapon out of your pack, and changing armors. in FO1 or 2 if you tied to enter inventory you were docked AP because everything took time.

time is another resource alotted to you and you need to make sure you use it to the maximum of your abilities or you are dead

I actually own FO 1 and 2. Ive also been playing games since the 80s, so i know all about turn based games. I enjoyed them at the time but much prefer the real time FP view. Games have moved on and wont be moving back to TB any time soon im afraid.

I never said i was playing FO 1 in the 80s. Games did exist before 1997 you know lol That TB video of fallout 3 looks terrible, if they made a FO like that it would go straight to the gutter.

It doesn't matter who should make it, because most likely Bethesda will be doing it.Hopefully they take some Obsidian team members in to add some better writing and RPG elements to it.

Obsidian but it will be Bethesda. I am just hoping Bethesda will learn from Obsidian when it comes to making a Fallout. I don't want Fallout 4 to be a TES dressed up to look like Fallout.

Are you kidding me? New Vegas is Fallout 3 with minor tweaks, obsidian basically ripped of bethesda

Ripped what of Bethesda. Could you please explain which bit of the story was ripped from Fo3?

If Anything, Bethesda ripped off the people now at Obsidian. Getting kicked out of the vault? Fallout 1 did it. Go fetch the Geck? Fallout 2 did it. Go blow up the Enclave? Fallout 2 did it.

New Vegas has way more then "minor tweaks" over Fallout 3.

New Vegas has far superior writing then Fallout 3 in every way. It has many improvments in game play that were in the Originals but not in Fallout 3 such as Damage Threshold. The only thing Fallout New Vegas has in common with Fallout 3 besides "Fallout" in the title is the game engine.

If you knew anything about the Originals you would know Fallout 3 ripped off Fallout and Fallout 2 for plot. In some cases almost world for world. "I am sorry you will have to leave for the good of the vault." So much of Fallout 3 was ripped off from the Originals. New Vegas rips nothing off from Fallout 3 say for maybe fire ants but that is another debate.

@Undecafindeed. Like told someone else in this thread stats play a big role until about level 17 or so. The main problem is in what J.E. Sawyer told us about why it seems easy to a lot of us on here.

He basically said he has watched play throughs where people svck.

So to me he reinforced my notion that games today are made for the lowest common denominator. The NPCs stats are no high enough to cope with your guy + a brain when he is leveled. Turn based or not it will still be too easy for most old school gamers like myself.

Take bos level 11 67ew??? maybe 28dt pa That is garbage...

Bos in lore are walking tanks 97ew 35dt 395hp <<< if that was bos paladin you would need to be leveled have the best equipment and a brain, and they would still be very hard. Just like old rpgs.....

Now you understand why I flip out when people cry about cazadors.

Turn based or not the game will be made to be easy enough for everyone.

This would make the game WAYYYYYY too easy. Seriously. I see so many people go on about how easy FO3 and NV are, and adding anything of this sort would make them so much easier. There'd be absolutely no challange whatsoever. The only way to make it more difficult for the people that use the TB combat would be to make the baddies harder, which would only hurt the people that like to use RT combat.

On to the actual topic of the thread:
It doesn't matter who makes makes it, people are going to complain no matter what. If Bethesda makes it (which is most likely) people will inevitably re-hash the simple and mostly idiotic tired complaints they have about FO3. If Obsidian makes it, there will be complaints from the other side. If a third party makes it everybody will complain unless it lives up their personal expectations of what they (the player) feels the game should be. Before anyone start flaming me about this, I've played all the FO games, since they came out, and love them all. I found flaws in all of them, but I don't blame the sudio that made them for the flaws and saw that those studios are crap. I don't because until I can make a game like any of them, I have no room to complain about anybody elses games like that (whether it be writing, continuity errors, bad game-play elements, etc.).

But it should be optional anyways, for those with nostalgia, TB would be good for us "the dinosaurs who stuck in the past"

Also, that vid is from a earlier version, the latest one was more faster

Actually its the other way around... Turn based combat came as an advancement past the realtime combat of earlier games. I find the RT combat tame

**Its also not nostalgia when you still have it installed and still play ~there are no 'rose tinted goggles', many compare the games directly and wish for a modernized engine that retains the series gameplay, while benefiting from the new hardware.

How about both? :celebration:

If nothing else though, I'd prefer Bethesda, they just need to incorporate some of the improvements from New Vegas.

I agree on this. It's -going- to be Bethesda, I just hope they decide to put a little more effort into writing in their upcoming games, because it's been completely lacking in their most recent two.

I just watched that video garbriel77dan posted... I don't know if I could take playing fallout 3 like that by the time you finished the game you'd end up being a old man... kind of like this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AXS8P0HksQo
(a million cabillion post laters...)

I don't know that mod just seems really out of place if you ask me. Doesn't fit in with the way fallout 3 is designed.

I think it would have been more RPGish if they just scrapped the first person shooting and made it where you're forced to use only VATS for combat. That would have brought more balance and would make more use out of special and skill points. I think if it was more like you get attacked by an enemy VATS pops up you give off your attack enemy does his attack, then VATS pops back up and so on. I think if they did it more like knights of the old republic, special and skill points would be a lot more balanced and it would have a turn base feel. I think I'm turning into a dinosaur...

Off topic:
Would I be considered a dinosaur for being a fallout1/2 fan but also a fan of falllout3/NV? Even though I feel they left out a lot but I like a lot of what they added in. Fallout 3/NV is pretty bad ass in my opinion... So a dinosaur is somebody who is a fan of the originals or is a dinosaur a fan of the originals but hates the modern aspect of fallout3/NV? Could somebody clear this up I haven't been on these forums for like 4 months...

Actual topic:
I still think they should make a joint stock company and make a fallout4 that takes place back in California and continue the lore! How fun would it be to explore places like NCR or the bone yard fallout3 style?
