Fallout 4 who should make it?

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 5:22 am

I'm still amazed over the mod for Fallout 3 which made it turnbased: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oFABEnF7b6I
Seriously, it is freaking possible to make Fallout New Vegas and Fallout 3 turn-based!
Sure it's a very very crude beta but it's still, [censored], possible!
So [censored] do it Bethesda!!
You're professional game developers!
If anyone can make a balanced and polished optional Turn-Based mode it would be a game studio!
And look! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oFABEnF7b6I
LOOK! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oFABEnF7b6I
A freaking modder was able to make one!
So why not spend the time to make one? An optional TB mode?
You'd knock two birds with one stone, the FPS crowd get theirs and the TB crowd gets theirs.

So.
Yeah.
All I'm saying is... It... Is... Possible: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oFABEnF7b6I

Thats an AMAZING mod. I cant believe I missed it. I hope he does a New Vegas Version as well,

it is an unfinished project that was abandoned with a patch that busted up some previous coding, i hear.

Not really, the bottom left corner of F3 was dangerous with Yao Gui and robots but it wasn't scripted to have half a dozen of them attack you, it waa random. The other unmanagable place was Old Oney but you were safe just outside. NV was very linear IMO, it was like "Follow Obsidian's yellow brick road or get mega-f*cked by Cazadores and Deathclaws" which isn't fun, just annoying.

On topic: I vote Bethesda due to their remarkable open worlds that have me still playing F3 almost daily.

It's not that i don't want Bethesda to make Fallout 4, i really do love their talent at world building, but i would really like them to take a hint from the writers of Obsidian to flesh out and rationalize the world that they so beautifully create.

But It has more choices rather then just "join the BOS, or join the BOS" and "Destroy the Enclave, or .... yep destroy thr Enclave":spotted owl:

Sandbox map its nothing to me if the game doesnt have a really good story to put it, something that FO3 doesnt have it ,it just for loot and shoot things that scale with you

Bethesda- Because the way they make rpgs is the wave of the future and they make good games
some of you should at least show some respect

Obsidion- Because I would like Bethesda to focus on the Elder Scrolls

I would choose Both poll is RACIST

If thats the future, I'm sure glad I'm history

Bethesda has been on a Downward spiral as of late when it comes to their games.
if you ask alot of Beth-fans they will tell you they rate the games like this

Morrowind + Expansions > Oblivion > Fallout

Which, not surprising is the chronology in which they came out.
I know developers move on from companies here and there but I implore Bethesda... get back all those involved in making Morrowind. pay them what ever they want.

Turn-based combat is an outrageously out-dated game mechanic and needs to die.

Anyways, I want Obsidian with no restraint what-so-ever (A thing Bethesda couldn't give them during the development of NV).

Turn based game play is still a valid game style. just because you don't like it, don't mean anything

That is your opinion, and we are only asking for a damn option, because real time is completely incapable of representing skills and SPECIAL as creditably as turn based, thank you very much.

Like I said before:
Beth - open world
Obsidian - Story-driven RPG

Hell, I could be satisfied even with Beth making majority of the game WITH Obsidian writers and some major game designers in the lead. Or something like that.

Where do I start... I can't blieve this turned into another turn base arguement thread...

I hate to ruin your guys day but really we can just kiss turn base goodbye for any future fallout game. I think if they make another fallout game its not going to be turn base. Sure I would not mind if they had the option. I loved fallout1/2 as much as anybody but that style of game is going out of style its obsolete to todays game standards. Really I just suggest just to go play fallout1/2 if you want to play a turn based fallout game. Now thats out of the way...

Fallout 3 OWNS Oblivion, how could anybody say that oblivion was better than fallout 3! EEsh... I guess thats just my opinion.

The poll still has not changed and its still racist! They should make a joint-stock company of bethseda and obsidian. They should make a fallout 4 that takes place back in califronia with all the towns that look EXACTLY the same as they did in fallout1/2 with modern graphics and bring back the canon! I'm sure this idea belongs in another thread but oh well I wrote it there. Isn't that what we all truly wanted anyways? Really that's what I was expecting with fallout 3 hoping to see all the towns with bethseda RPG style graphics... I really didn't expect turn base combat to return honeslty but now its getting off topic.

Bethesda should and will make it. course they wouldn't have Chris or Josh, but I think they've learned now that story is just as important as action.

Hmm, needs new material to discuss....
Got it! :

Bethesda is good at the whole exploration and dungeon bit.
Obsidian is good at the whole writing and choices bit.

Mkay, mkay, it all ends up with what you preference of a game is.
There ain't no right or wrong answer there since it's about opinion.

But which developer would be best for the franchise?
Bethesda furthering Elder Scrollizing it?
Or Obsidian ditching the ES aspects of the game and focusing on writing, mechanics and choices?

I've been a Fallout fan for a very, very long time, and I haven't played an ES game until 2009 after I heard Oblivion was like Fallout 3.
So for the franchise to become a clone of another completely different franchise? No thanks.
I want Fallout to be it's own franchise that plays by it's own rules of design.
Not for it to follow some fantasy game that's more into dungeon crawling than actual RPG elements.

So what is important for a Fallout game?
Good writing and an understanding of lore and past history.

So Obsidian for me.
Bethesda should focus on what they know and what they do best, Elder Scrolls, and leave Fallout alone.
Sure, Skyrim and Fallout 4 might blow our minds but I doubt it since Oblivion and Fallout 3 is their past "masterpieces".
But who knows?
Maybe Bethesda learned to keep their Elder Scrolls away from Fallout and Fallout 4 is even more of a Fallout game than New Vegas was.
But Bethesda wants to appeal to the masses and the masses says to do more Elder Scrolls, so I ain't holding my breath.

So again, Obsidian IMO would be best for the franchise overall.

How is it outdated? And more over, how is it outrageously so?
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I do support an optional TB mode. But it needs to be part of the core design. There's nothing really gained from a TB mode that is hastily tucked in as a cheap afterthought that feels like [censored].

Thats kind of a biased opinion isn't it?

I would agree that many people prefer morrowind to oblivion, but there are also many who prefer the opposite (ie. prefer Oblivon to Morrowind). And who says that Fallout 3 is worse than Oblivion? I personally prefer Fallout 3 to Obilvion for many reasons.

I could make the exact claim with Black Isle really. If you ask most Original Fallout fans, most seem to rank the games this way

Fallout->Fallout 2->Fallout tactics, Burned Game. Which is coincidentally the order they came out with. Does that mean that Black Isle was on "downward spiral". No I don't think so.

Ah yes I forgot about that.

My point still stands though, as I believe that most prefer Fallout to Fallout 2. In any case, saying "they're on a downward spiral" is a overgeneralization that should not be made about either company, since clearly there are many differing opinions on that.

THIS. people need to realise that turn based games are a thing of the past. If FO4 was made turn based, it would flop massively!

We don't how it would flop, if at all.

And I press on: How is TB "outdated" and "a thing of the past"? Knowing that realtime is just as old, if not older.

The lack of big budget turn based games speaks for itself. Not enough people want TB. if they did im sure they would make more.

That only tells, that easier money is found from copypaste products of todays gaming market, not that people wouldn't buy or like well made TB games.
