Fallout 4 will not let me play!

Post » Mon Jan 25, 2016 1:47 am

So today around five PM I decided to play Fallout 4. Later, at ten PM, I try to play it and it doesn't let me play. I can launch it just fine, I can get onto the main menu screen, I can even start a new game. It even occasionally plays the SPECIAL cartoons. But for some odd reason, every time I try to load or continue a game, it just exits. I've restarted my computer (a windows 10 laptop) and even tried uninstalling it (which seems to be another impossible task I've run into) and yet it won't let me play. If anyone at all has any idea what is happening or how to fix this, PLEASE PLEASE HELP! Any assistance or info would be SO useful. Thanks to all in advance.

I have had the same problem for the past several days (since I allowed the current Steam beta to be installed). Crash to desktop with no error message. New game, old game. No mods, with mods. Tried reinstalling 2x since I bought this game. I have a Windows 10 (64 bit) desktop, ASUS Formula Z, FX 8350 processor at 4.7ghz. 16gb ram, AMD R9 290 with 4gb vram. All drivers up to date. When the game runs, it runs well with no problems. Right now it will play the loading screen, maybe start character creation if it is a new game, screen goes black briefly, then to desktop. Right after the current beta, it had a few random crashes, but could be restarted and picked up where I left off. Now nothing. Very frustrating. None of the fixes I have found on line seem to work. I weep with you Stevereno and pray for technical intervention. I too would be most grateful. PS, yes it got wonky during the first Steam beta as well.

Need some more information. Post a dxdiag so we can see your system specs and take it from there.

Could you start a new thread please? That way your info doesn't get confused with the original posters. Also please add a dxdiag in the new thread as well. Plenty of folks here that will try to help.

Does this happen when you try to load any save?

Have you opted into the beta? And are you suing any mods?

I had this problem after I opted in to the beta and it turned out to be one specific mod (Gore Overhaul). Uninstalled that, it's worked since.

If you're not using mods, have you made any system changes, any windows updates? Have you tried deleting the INIs located in the my documents/my games/Fallout 4 folder and letting the game make a new one? (You'll also need to redo your graphics settings when you do this)
