Fallout 4 will win Game of The Year?

Post » Sun Nov 29, 2015 6:49 pm

Fallout 4 is the worst game I ever played so far in the last 5 years I think.

I got a gaming pc but decided to buy it on the PS4.

Its filled with bugs, glitches and huge frame drops during battles!

There are even audio glitches during converstations with the NPC.

Graphics look horrible even for a console.

No, Witcher 3 deserves that prize. It pushed the envelope in terms of graphical fidelity, story telling, writing, voice acting, characterisation and world building.

Fallout 4, as enjoyable as it can be, is simply outclassed by other games in too many ways to deserve the GOTY title.

By the way Steamspy shows less than a half of PC-owners of W3 because its main platform is GOG (and in September they mentioned about 1 mil. activated copies) so it is not perfect measuring bar.

Well, it's definitely my game of the year but whether it can survive [censored]'s hate campaign in a vote is another matter.

I don't think it will, the metacritic scores are the lowest i've seen for any bethesda game, people are really upset about those performance issues, nvidia gameworks really robbed this game of its goty...

I think Witcher 3 as a game was generally better but F4 is a strong contender. Different sort of experience.

Fallout 4 doesn't even get close to The Witcher 3. The Witcher 3 is not only the best game released this year, it's one of the best games ever. Fallout 4 is fantastic, but compared to The Witcher 3 its slightly underwhelming to be honest.

Every game is "Game of the Year". There's no governing body that decides that. That said, if there was, I don't think this is it. Not to mention it's November and there's still games on the way.

TW3 is better in most aspects imo. I go by the Golden Joystick goty awards, and that vote is already in for 2015 ;)

In the end it doesn't matter because I enjoyed (and wills till with expansion 1 and 2) Witcher 3 and am enjoying Fallout 4. From player's POV GOTY doesn't matter one bit. All I want is good games to play.

Dying Light and Witcher 3 are BOTH far better games.

F4 bites a big one in comparison, especially to Witcher 3.

Not to mention ESO ... it is also far superior ( although from last year I believe ).

I can't believe there is no fast way to change weapons. Have to stop and dig through menus and try to find the one you want, meanwhile -- you're dead.

Well, it had the biggest marketing campaign, so probably yeah.

What are you talking about?? 12 hotkeys (1 through 0 and -+), plus the Favourites quick-access. Also, the PIp-boy freezes time, so you can use that without risk if you don't have the weapon you want hotkeyed.

Personally, Fallout4 is the best game I've played in a long time. I'm sure it will win many GOTY awards.

I voted no, it's an outstanding game, don't get me wrong, it's just at the moment I feel TW3 broke newer ground and showed me more of what gaming can and will be in coming years.

FO4 has felt very familiar at times and the bits that seem fresh and new are not major developments in their own right I don't think, it's definitely close and I've only had 12 or so hours with FO4, so I guess it may be too early to call it yet.

I don't know what universe you live in, but I barely heard anything about Witcher 3. Bethesda had their first-ever own E3 session, there was something for F4 every bloody week since its announcement, humongous pre-order campaign with that hilariously low-quality iPhone sleeve, etc. I can't fathom you can you even think about comparing the two.

Top contender, yes. Any of these could win it. Most likely The Witcher 3.

The Witcher 3

Bloodbourne

MGS V

Fallout 4

It's hard to say, Witcher 3 and Fallout 4 are both very good. I wouldn't mind if either win it, but I know I will spend far more time in FO4, as I got bored of TW3 after two runs, the second one being NG+ too.

Most folks seem to think it's going to be The Witcher 3. I like aspects of this game, but I feel like if it does win GOTY, the standards for GOTY are unacceptably low. The experience on the next-gen consoles is lacking, the game is buggy (some game-breaking bugs, really bad stuff), the story isn't compelling, and there's a lot of things that feel unfinished. Nevermind the fact that the game copy-pasted so very much from its predecessors that they probably could have spent a lot more time on good graphics, stable framerates, a separate interface that worked for PC and a much better story that didn't alienate a not insignificant portion of the playerbase...

It doesn't feel like a GOTY title. Skyrim was a GOTY title. Fallout 4 isn't.

Maybe you were on a break from the internet during TW3's campaign, then? because it was quite huge, every gaming site and its mother had advertising banners, plus the partnership with nvidia and bundled video cards, plus a boatload of trailers with artificially enhanced graphics. Maybe you felt F4 was more advertised because its campaign was much shorter (6 months vs 27 months), but trust me, TW3 was anything but underground ;)

GOTY? Not even close. More like TMDGOTY - the most dissapointing game of the year.

I've never said it was underground. But it was incomparably smaller in terms of exposure and no doubt budget. So no, sorry, I'm not going to "trust you", I have no reason to.

Maybe you've forgotten that "Fallout" 4 had everything you mentioned (excluding marketing for Nvidia), plus Youtube miniseries on SPECIAL, plus a bloody standalone mobile game. And everything I mentioned in my previous post.

So yeah, W3 was totally more marketed, because it was paid some money by Nvidia to include some of their proprietary rubbish into the game :D . Jesus Christ...

Top 3 but I don't think it wins. It's a great game and is by far one of my favorites of the year but it just isn't polished enough compared to MGS, Bloodborne, and Witcher 3.

Best bang for your buck IMO though.
