I was bought Fallout and Fallout 2 during the Steam sales and I'm really looking forward to playing them, however I doubt they work terribly well on Windows 7 without patches and various other fixes. I looked around online and it seems there are a few patches available. Like FIXT, the Semi-Official Patcha and the Unofficial Patch. I'm not really sure which one to go for so I ask you, dear readers:

What steps should I take after installation to get Fallout into the best state possible, in terms of patches and tweaks? Please bear in mind that I have never played Fallout 1 or 2 before.
