Fallout with 80's music

Post » Fri May 04, 2012 8:00 am

How would a Ipod be in their future (as opposed to "They can't have Ipods! They didn't exist in the 50's!").
Pipboys, they can play and download holotapes and holodisks apparently. This basically makes them the clunkier 50s equivalent.

Somewhere (and I can't find it), I'm positive I read that Holotapes stored the equivelent of 4 terabytes (unheard of at the time they made the game; ** 2nd thought, they may have been gigabytes. Elsewhere I think I read a much lower number).

Oh... and this: http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/jj125/Gizmojunk/trpod.jpg

(Pipboys were from the vaults... did they have them back in their 1980's? Were they ever consumer products?)

snip

I also had the same thoughts about the series before Fallout 3. That things did advance culturally but differently then our own. The 1950s mindset never went away but things still changed.

I would like to think there was a Vietnam war, only it played out differently and never escalated to the point it got to in our own timeline. The people never lost faith in the Government. "The Government knows best" mindset stayed and the counter culture revolution never took off.

I also speculated that as the world got closer and closer to falling apart the American government got more authoritarian and things reverted more towards the 1950s style that was always there but became more pronounced at the end.

Even in Fallout 3 it shows that things did change dispite Bethesda going way over board with the 1950s thing. There seems to have been a civil rights movement at some point.

Actually, Pipboys were standard Vault Gear, however, I believe the Pipboy itself is a RobCo product, as Elijah seems to indicate it as 'that piece of RobCo trash'.

80s music? This is after a nuclear war in the year 2077, give us something modern instead. I will NEVER turn on my radio again if they dont implant good music in the game, cause i love this game but im sick of hearing Johnny [censored] guitar. reminding you all APOCALYPSE HELLO

Well of course everything would have an 80s feel rather than a 50s feel.

And iam not speaking of just rock music, also pop from the 80s like "Black with wonderfull world" or the likes.

Also i asked about a spin off version, so its Fallout but not the same universe (this off course to prevent anything breaking up any kind of lore already set in stone.)

I don't even like 80's music and I was born in '83.

If they're gonna stray away from the 50's, I'd rather hear the techno of today.

Edit* Except for the Cure and maybe Cybotron, they're alright.

just an axe of 50′s rock

http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=50%C2%B4s+rock&oq=50%C2%B4s+rock&aq=f&aqi=&aql=&gs_sm=3&gs_upl=32250l51369l0l52066l4l4l0l0l0l0l132l384l1.3l4l0

and then a 60′s rock

http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=60%C2%B4s+rock&oq=60%C2%B4s+rock&aq=f&aqi=&aql=&gs_sm=3&gs_upl=23680l25949l0l26596l2l2l0l0l0l0l88l176l2l2l0

and those can work well in the game but at least early 60′s but 70′s and 80′s you have to explain that well storey vise to mack it fit in to the game, probably go to another part of the world

I say they should just stay with the 50's and add moar Elvis music, Roy Orbison, Ritchie Valens, etc… Some noir music…

I can always turn off the radio and play music on another contraption while playing.

I dunno about others but a single Fallout spinnof game using 80s music would be nice. I think most of us were born in the 80s so nice fit.

Oh yeah that would totally make sense.

well it don't have to be a spin-off for it to work, as long as it fits whit the storey. in the same time how far off do it have to be for it to be a spin off?

To go back in time pree 2077 or something is clear spin off but to just mow the game to Ethiopia is more an expansion on the game then a spin-off, but in both ways a change of music and culture is in place.

In a spin off set in another part of the world. Yeah, possibly.

In the main series of fallout games? No. Lets keep a bit of consistency here.

Wasn't there a Raider gang mentioned called the 80s in the Zion DLC?

Of course it could just mean the highway system that the gang raids and situates itself.

I love 80's music, as my name suggests I love Guns N Roses although that was late 80s... But I cant picture 80s music in Fallout...

But a little bit of Van Halen or Motley Crue would be great ;)

80s Music Doesn't fit a 50s setting.

Even though I love 80s music I have to say no.

I'm a teenager.

I hate a lot of modern music so I listen to older stuff (which is a lot better in my opinion).

This describes me perfectly. c:

That said I do think certain songs from the 80s could work, but that'd mostly be the Jazz. Then again world music of that era could work, and if it were set near Mexico it'd be nice to hear some Latin music.

See music is such a contraversial topic since many people listen to different things and want all that in a game will be hard so i have no comment other than HAVE SOME [censored] ELVIS!!!!!
