I've recently built a new PC:
Intel Core i5 750 2.66GHz
MSI P55A Fuzion Socket 1156
RAM Kingston 4GB DDR3 1600 MHz
MSI GTX460 Hawk
OCZ Stealth Xstream 600W
XP Home SP 3 - with all updates
and am having issues getting Fallout 3 to work. I have the game previously (borrowed from a friend) and it worked on my old setup. However, I have now purchased it new from Amazon and am having a few problems.
When I first inserted the CD it didn't auto-run, then when I went into my computer and clicked on the F: drive for the DVD/CD rom I got an error saying the application may not be configured properly and I should try reinstalling. I looked in event viewer and am getting a 'SidebySide' error. The event ID given is 59. I have already tried installing Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable Package, as I read on Google that this resolved sidebyside errors for some people - unfortunately it hasn't worked for me.
I had to right click on the F: drive and select open to bring up the contents of the CD and nstalled the game by running the setup file. Even after doing this I still can't run the game. I get the same error message when I click on the F: drive from within my computer, or if I go to start>programs>fallout 3.
Has anyone experienced this? Does anyone know how to fix the problem?
Cheers,
Dave.
