I really wish they hadn't put Pip-Boy on it. The placement is so weird, and makes it feel not like an actual Vault controller, a "real world" Fallout item, but rather like the worst kind of slapped-on, tie-in merchandise.

If it felt more like an actual Vault item, it would be a must-have. Would have loved to see the Vault-Tec logo on it.

http://www.destructoid.com/bethesda-is-making-a-fallout-4-controller-316378.phtml there are only 5,000 of these - I wonder how quickly they'll sell out.

I just tried to buy one, but it told me the Qty of 1 is not available, and this is out of stock already.

Sorry to hear it. I just happened to see an article yesterday about it and picked it up this morning the second the site came back up from maintenance. I would say keep your eyes peeled on the Bethstore for a possible resell of this (like the pipboy editions have had). Good luck!

That maintenance lasted a long time! I think it started around 8:00 and lasted until maybe around 8:45. I left the computer to take a shower  So from 8:45 to 9:04, that's sold out in about 20 minutes.

This is going to sound sick and pathetic but it actually started at 7:57am and lasted until 8:42am. I know because yes I was that guy sitting at his computer refreshing the store page every second from 7am until I ordered it. What can I say. I don't collect everything Fallout but when I do want something Fallout-ish, I'm gonna give it my all! :fallout: :bonk:

Not at all! Glad someone was keeping track  I'm on the West coast so I was worried, due to Bethesda being on the East coast, that it was going to go on sale at some obscenely early hour in the morning. Anyway - so that was definitely a long maintenance window, and definitely fast to go out of stock.

Someone kindly posted in the store sub-forum that the controller is available at GameStop:

luckily got my order in with gamestop.

I really really wish they wouldn't do all of these things super-earlyin the morning, not everyone works normal hours lol.

Awesome! Glad to hear you were able to get one through GS! Think it's also a shame more people won't be able to play with this controller. Any fan should appreciate a smile & thumbs up on his/her controller while getting blown away in the wasteland!

I hate the look of it. Giving it a rusted T-45d texture would have been way cooler.

Isn't the wired part just indicating that it comes with the detachable 10' USB cable?

Yeah the gamestop description shows it's a detachable 10' cord. I found the xbox one controller shell for just $10. I think I'm gonna do a little project

What is the functionality of the special button to the bottom right of the right anolog stick?

Same thing mentioned in the official store, as well as a photo of the "back" of the controller with the empty port for plugging in the USB cable.

I'm always envious of people who make sick console/controller/PC custom mods. Good luck!

That's my assumption... I'm afraid I don't know enough about Xbox One controllers in general. I honestly can't imagine them releasing a wired-only controller in this day and age. All research points to all Xbox One controllers having option of either wired or wireless.

I'm a bit curious who the actual product developer is. I'm not sure that it's Bethesda - otherwise I think we would have got a better custom design  GameStop says "by PDP." There's also the wording "Officially licensed by Microsoft for Xbox One" (which I understand - despite the differences - to mean that I should expect it to function like Xbox One controllers) and the wording "Features Vault Boy licensed artwork from Fallout 4" - in other words, the artwork had to be licensed to be used.

One of my favorite controllers was the Tomb Raider Xbox 360 controller, the red one with "battle damage" and a small pickaxe icon from the game's iconography. It wasn't just a controller with some licensed artwork slapped awkwardly on one side. They could have done a really amazing design for a Vault-Tec controller. Or they could have at least put two full-body Vault Boys on each side, balancing the design - or even no Vault Boys would have been better than half of one - instead of half a Vault Boy that's going to be hidden under your hand the whole time anyway.

Sorry for the rant. I just felt it was really a missed opportunity to make one of the best controllers ever

Honestly it seems pretty awkwardly placed!

Yikes.

It's still available at GameStop, people.

If only you could leave comments on eBay auctions, and warn people who are going to get ripped off.

Yep. Never been very fond of the Vault-Tec color scheme used in this sort of manner. Looks almost like a toy. Not to mention the anolog sticks aren't the inclined ones like the original Xbox One controller, which I much prefer.

I think I'm content with my current controller, which is still is good condition anyway.

I haven't done anything like that in a while but did some really cool 360 cases around '09. I've got a couple ideas for this fallout controller that should be pretty cool. We "rusted" a buddy's car including the plastic bumpers and there's a couple cool ways of simulating rust and weathering on metal
