If they keep dumbing it down the way they are, then no.
I'll be throwing Vesemir's hat in for TW3. F4 will win 2016 GOTY.
It's still probably the favorite, which sounds prescient considering it's not out, but the power of hype and expectancy can't be underestimated.
I'm intrigued to see if it can top MGS V's metacritic score which I personally doubt it will.I'm also skeptical that Fallout 4 can offer the same kaleidoscopic gameplay that the Witcher 3 has.As I've said in previous threads, TW3 is probably the most comprehensive and well-rounded RPG ever.
If Fallout 4 follows precedent it'll be exemplary in some areas and execrable in others, while the Witcher 3 was exemplary in most aspects and never worse than competent in others.
Edit:
Though personally I'll be throwing Max Caulfields rucksack in for GOTY (presuming episode 5 delivers).
I believe Fallout 4 has a great chance to win goty, metal gear out and fallout 4 is next in line of the next biggest game, probably even bigger then assassin creed syndicate. I think fallout 4 has a chance of winning, it all depends though we only have like 2 months left and fallout 4 out.
MGS V, Bloodborne, Batman Arkham Knight, The Witcher 3 and Fallout 4. It is gonna be tight, but Bethesda has won for Oblivion, Fallout 3 and Skyrim, not sure i see that pattern changing with Fallout 4. We'll see.
It's been a while since I've seen a good ipse dixit...
played some MGS, really dont see it as GOTY in my opinion. Than again, goty is a bit stupid. saying one game is better than all the rest for that year. its like saying "this athlete is the best in the world blah blah blah", even though there are so many different sports. they may excel in some departments, but it doesnt mean they are better than all the rest. kinda gimicky imo
but to answer the question, yes. I think it will because it will probably be in my opinion one of the best games ever and i will play the [censored] out of it.
If Fallout does not fall to Batman pit. It should be GOTY easily. Altough Witcher 3 is close contender.
I really need to check out Witcher 3 sometime... It's apparently good. Then again, I really hope it doesn't become another "Fable/Dragon Age", where it's one of those types of RPGs and I end up trading it in for store credit.
Actually my brother has the witcher 3 and he plays the beep out of it and it's worth buying witcher does not come even close to fable at all, that's like comparing dragon age to fallout 4 there is no similarities at at all.
MGS V is ok. I'm starting to run into a bit of repetitiveness out in the field. Cutscenes can hamper the pacing of the gameplay. Sloppy PC translation of controls. Really bizarre enemy concepts (Skulls / that fiery guy / the girl in a trench coat that has a hard on for following me). It's fun though. Enjoying it a lot more than Mad Max which got extremely repetitive.
No it won't, cause certain titles usually have good game code so people can actually enjoy it for GOTY
Not necessary saying that the games are similar but rather, I end up getting burned out on Witcher 3 very easily, like I did with Fable and Dragon Age. I might not though, and that's the thing... I'm not sure. With a Bethesda game, that's different since I'm use to their games and know I won't get burned out of them easily but Witcher 3? That's gonna be a new experience for me so I'm not too sure.
That's an equally execrable indictment against this forum and you to be honest
Edit:
In my own personal opinion MGS V won't be my goty, it's nothing like the other numbered MGS games and in many ways the antithesis.
I don't always agree with your opinions but......this, this we can agree on.
I don't buy into the triple A hype machine used to sell games that are made annually, but sometimes once in a blue moon the media showers a game with hype that actually deserves it.
That was the case for witcher 3 (IMHO).
I've never played the previous titles but in what ways is it markedly different?
Please don't feed it.
Just ignore them. There will always be people who will use the "dumbing down" argument without realizing the actual improvements from game to game (and the flaws from the previous games).
