I just got a new pc for Christmas and I'm having trouble running my Fallout3 GOTY edition.
I'm using Windows 8 64 bit, Processor AMD A10-5700 APU with ATI Radeon HD 7570 graphics.

I get an error box and it says:-

Fallout3.exe - Ordinal Not Found
The ordinal 42 could not be located in the dynamic link library
C:\windows\SYSTEM32\xlive.dll.


Before I had Vista and had no problems at all even with my mods.

I would very much apreciate any help.

You have just highlighted the specific error that indicates G4WL (Games for Windows LIVE) must be installed/updated (source: gamesas Support Page!).

Download the latest straight from Microsoft and install it. Actually logging into it through the Fallout 3 launcher once it is setup appears to be optional (at least after initial configuration it is).
