Same with Oblivion, hard to find the sweet spot on difficult locks :)

I didn't find any of the minigames broken. So I'm glad they function the same.

But it could've had a new mesh and texture.

I really couldn't give a rats [censored] personally... one of the first mods that will most likely be lock picking / hacking. Can't stand mini games

Yeah,, As I said before, people have really bad memories. The computer textures/meshes aren't the same. The computers are similar but the new ones have completely different dials and keyboard layout, slightly different design with a bigger monitor area and a noticeable pock marked texture. What people see is something familiar.. and they instantly jump to the conclusion that it's exactly the same. To think that Bethesda would be too lazy as to not take the time to create something so simple as a computer texture and mesh is just idiotic.

As long as they don't make it like skyrim: A pointless minigame where you can lockpick the hardest lock without any perks and where a million lockpicks are thrown at you.

I'm fine with them not redoing the lockpicking and hacking methods, but I would think that they'd at least polish up the textures. It's not going to stop me from buying the game, but part of the reason I'm excited for Fallout 4 is to see the Wasteland full of color and life. (Not saying that 3's and New Vegas' graphics were bad)

its gonna be a great game no doubt, but the area near a river looks an awful like areas in fallout 3, i'm not too worried overall but i would of preferred new textures

This is my preference as well.

*But if it has to be a minigame... then it should at least be a good one. The one in FO3, is not comparable even to http://i271.photobucket.com/albums/jj125/Gizmojunk/Hillsfar.gif.

Hacking is boring because there are too many words, i mean their lenght makes it harder but their count dosn't, it only makes it unnecessary long and boring, and after like thaused times it is just too much.

Btw i liked the lockpick second chance perk, realy made it a lot more enjoyable. Actually i think it would be nice to just remove manual lockpicking and make it totaly skill/bobby pin count based.

Random thought..... personally, I wouldn't consider (for example) an "original" uncompressed 2048x2048 image and a compressed 512x512 version of that image to be "the same texture". They might look superficially the same in a bad screenshot, or in a cell-phone-camera recording of a video, but they are not the same.

(Not saying that this is the case here, just a general thought. Personally, I can't see them "re-using" any textures from Fallout 3, if only because everyone - including consoles - has more memory now. And the likelihood of needing to tweak the textures for the new renderer.)

The lockpicking system and hacking system in Fallout 3 - Skyrim (Skyrim uses the same lockpicking system pretty much. Obviously no hacking though) are great systems and I'm kinda glad they are keeping them like that... Plus, who knows, they might've done a bit more to them. We just don't know yet because we only saw them being used like once?

Reusing armor and clothing meshes and textures too?

Sorely disappointed if so.

Oblivion's lockpick system was awful, god awful. I would take Fallout3/Skyrim's lockpick any day of the week over it. I like the amount of locks but the system in which you try to open it is just painful and turns into a mash the x button. Even How Basic Fallout3/Skyrim's system is I would take that over Oblivion.

I'm almost positive they wouldn't and can't reuse any of the apparel models. Fallout 4 uses an entirely different character model and they divide the armor up into segments and layers - which changes the artistic approach too.

If they were to reuse any apparel models, it would have been the vault suit... but as we can see, they redesigned them to be closer to the original games..

....I'm sorry, where did this come from?

(Also, just watch the Combat trailer. There's a selection of outfits at the beginning, and they 1. don't look anything like FO3 ones, and 2. don't look like they're even modeled/rendered the same way. Even if they used the same appearance of Raider outfits in FO4, it'd pretty clear that they'd be re-meshed and re-textured to go along with the new rendering system. Heck, look at the vault suit - it doesn't look the same as the one in FO3 at all....)

My problem with that poll question is that there's no evidence Bethesda's reusing anything. Just some disgruntled journalist who thinks Fallout 4 is a rehash.

They are reusing some texures since they still have the uncompressed ones made during Fallout 3.

I really doubt they are just straight up reusing art assets. New Vegas reused a lot because it was developed as something like a game-sized expansion pack, reusing all of the art and gameplay mechanics. Fallout 4 has been in development for much longer than 18 months, and really Fallout 3's textures just straight up look awful today.

They still had the uncompressed textures from Oblivion when making Skyrim.... yet I don't see any Oblivion textures in Skyrim.

What makes you think Fo4 will be different?
