FAllOUT4 RELEASE TOO FAR AWAY= JUST LIKE DIABLO3

Post » Sat Dec 08, 2012 1:32 pm

I waited 10 years for Diablo sequel. By that time, a lot or millions of games, got married, graduated college, moved on, had kids, etc and forgot about the title. Also, it was a completely [censored] game by that time. We have Fallout 3 released in 2008? Well, how many more years? The original fans are aging again and a big fan base will have to be re-introduced to Fallout. If they go by a friends work that remembers Fallout 3 was good, the new generation of young gamers may not buy Fallout title. A big risk on behalf of Bethesda if you ask me.

This is way to long to release a game 6 years I suspect since we are 4+ years from the last release. I just watched VGA awards 2012 and no mention of Fallout4. I hear the Bethesda folks were seen in Boston area. If thats the case then they are in early development mapping streets and things. Then they have to design the graphics. may be another 4 years for lisencing, actors hired for voices, development, music rights, etc before we see this. By that time they may just wait to PS4 design it which will take another 3-4 years from the time they get the PS4. I dont get it. A big part of the fan base could be lost. Sure many are waiting for it, but many kids will go off to college, etc and the technology will further get old and uninteresting as far as a first person shooter could be old by 4 years from now. Just some thoughts on this and I know I felt like Diablo3 was way out-dated after waiting 10 years(2002-2012). Who knows what to expect but I know its been over 4 years since release without a word so I would say another 1 year minimum we see it and thats optimistic and unlikely by the way things are going.

I'd rather have a game that the devs took time over, than some franchise that churned out releases every 1 or 2 years as a cash cow.

Edit: Oh and people who get married and have kids do not forget about gaming - yes it's true you might have fewer hours to sink into games, but you make it sound as if gaming is only for kids and you might as well die when you reach advlthood with all its responsibilities, which is patently ridiculous. I'm speaking as a gamer in her 40s who got hooked on gaming on the ZX Spectrum and does not forget good games/franchises, and who is still weilding her keyboard and mouse at new game releases. ie. just because I am grown up now, it does not mean my passion for gaming has waned. Everyone needs a hobby no matter their age, and those people you refer to as having kids now? People around my age bracket? We were the first generation of dedicated gamers, don't forget that.

Looking forward to FO4, but I want a good game, and am happy for the developers to take time to produce a good game. I'm not going anywhere.

Was it 10 years? It seemed like 20 :D

Agree with this, New Vegas is a good game, and FO1+2 are worth playing if you haven't already done so, or replaying if you have! Never could get in to Tactics myself :(
