"FalloutNV Has Stopped Working"

Post » Sun Jun 23, 2013 1:35 pm

My friend got the Fallout: New Vegas Ultimate Edition for his PC a while ago, and he gave it to me. I already have it on the Xbox, but only have 3 DLCs (Lonesome Road, Honest Hearts, and Gun Runners' Arsenal), so I'd be able to get whatever else I'd been missing with this edition.

Only problem is that after I try and play it, I get this error: "FalloutNV has stopped working". It happens right as soon as I see the copyright screen.

I've tried reinstalling it, and it doesn't matter. I've tried downloading other versions of the Launcher and FalloutNV.exe file, and it still happens. My friend has the same exact computer that I have (issued out by our school), so I know that it's not a hardware problem.

Anyone know how to fix this?

Thanks.

Weird, you haven't installed any mods yet have you?

Nope. I've even tried disabling all the DLCs under Data Files.

This sounds oddly close to the GFWL issue with Fallout 3. You have Steam installed don't you?

Yeah, I have Steam installed, but the game isn't using Steam, because I installed it from a disc.

It has to use Steam. The game is tied to it regardless. I installed from disc as well, and Steam is still required.

If Steam isn't booting up when you are starting the game up, I'd say there's your problem.

I installed mine from a disk too and Steam is still required. I'd say your best bet would be to uninstall the game and all DLC then reinstall it again. You could also try downloading from Steam instead of installing from a disk, see if that fixes your problem.
