2 Fallouts 3s?

Okay, so a few days ago, I downloaded Fallout 3 GOTYE. I see that it downloaded the game as a brand new game. This would be fine and dandy, if I didn't already own Fallout 3 (Vanilla). It created a completely new game on my steam, instead of writing over the already existing game, and I was wondering if this was a bad thing.

I did the same thing with Fallout New Vegas, and the game file was just written over and replaced with the files from the Ultimate Edition. As in, I have one game file sitting there in my steam library for Fallout New Vegas.

So I have this going on:

Fallout 3

Fallout New Vegas

Fallout 3 Game of the Year Edition

Is this a problem that I should be concerned about? Or is this what was supposed to happen?

Again not sure if this is an issue, I just some advice on it.

I have the same thing with Batman: Arkham Asylum (Steam gave free upgrade to GOTY).

I just uninstalled the standard version and kept the GOTY version in. You should be able to just uninstall the basic Fallout 3 (Just move over any mods and the like that you want to save, as well as save games) and play the GOTY

It's not a bad thing, because they are two different games, as classified by their SKU.

The game files will be identical, though, provided you updated the original FO3 files.

If you still feel uncomfortable, you can always remove the original FO3 install.
