Falmer (Snow Elves)

Post » Thu Jul 07, 2011 8:15 am

With Skyrim released, should Bethesda include Falmer (Snow/Ice Elves) as a playably race?
. They are said to be the original inhabitants of Skyrim but were defeated by the Nords.
. Many believe there are still isolated areas of Skyrim where groups still live.

I would like to play as a Falmer in Skyrim. It could expand the lore of the setting, and be an interesting aspect to have an almost unheard of race, thrown out as superstition, to rise up and save Nirn from Alduin.
Thoughts?

We're only getting the original 10 races. Confirmed a while back.

But yes, I do want to see Falmer related stuff.

I want another Yagrum, someone you can talk to for a while about existential theory, and provided you bring him rare books, even more discussion.

i wont be the only person to check all the boxes just because i can.

i doubt it would be a playable race out of the box. with mods. sure. you can do anything with mods. well almost i guess.

I know, sadly. I just wanted to see if others would like to have them. Maybe if enough people wanted them they could be inserted before the release. (Very doubtful.)

They will be like the Dwemer or Ayleids, a few ruins, maybe a lost tribe. But not a massive component.

They're extinct, so most likely they'll be just old ruins that were once inhabited by them.

It's a great past time of man to make extinct anything that is different. Didn't you know?

Well, I would enjoy a new race, but Beth already got much to handle right now. And in a DLC it would mess up the rest of the game. Rather make the Falmer rare NPCs to encounter in their ruins like JagarTharn12 said.

Not as a playable race, but I would love a difficult questline that leads to discovering their ruins.

Could be an enemy, the reason why Alduin's back, NPC's that we can chat with in remote locations, etc. I would be disapointed if Snow Elves weren't in Skyrim.

Killing the elves is a matter of self-defense. After all, the elves plan on wiping humanity out from possibility.

I said this before about the Reiklings, nothing wrong with an enemy with a society. Although OB goblins were a royal pain because of the scaling, the biggest shame was that more wasn't made of their intelligence. Nice to go into a dungeon and come across the tribe's cook for a change, a non combatant who runs. Must every enemy be a homicidal maniac? And every bit of their culture you come across makes the dungeon dive more interesting than the usual hack and slash.

I would love to see them as NPCs. They're lore/history suggest they're still alive, so why not.

Where? Through nords saying that one spilled his drink, or are stealing their jobs? There's hardly any evidence they even existed, save for a skeleton and a story.

Yeah, their existence in the time that the games take place is merely rumor and legend.

They'd be a crap race to play... they'd probably have like 90% weakness to fire or something. It's not wonder they're not around, the Nords are way tougher. I wouldn't be surprised if they are to Skyrim what the Ayleids were to Oblivion. You'd see ruins and little else.

I would love to see Bethesda include them as NPCs, but I've already got my own plans for their implementation. I have a mod in the works that builds off the existing lore (not too much), and uses a bunch of custom lore that I've developed for them.

They have confirmed 10 races. But have they said the 10 standart races or just 10 races? Maybe they took the Argonians out as a playable race and added the Falmer instead?

Nope, the confirmation was for the ten races from Morrowind and Oblivion, and no more after that. There will be Argonians, there will not be Falmer. There will be Falmer mods, and Maormer mods, and Dwemer mods, and Imga mods, and *my voice trails off as I describe the variety of fantasy elves, human variants, anime characters, and Twilight characters, attaching 'mods' to the end of each one*. Maybe I should get photoshop for when I make my Maormer skin texture (and a bunch of other stuff). I wonder what resolutions will be standard for skin textures...
