This is an old video. It is off of a high end PC and the game went through design changes before release. Namely, they went more artistic than real with the graphics,(meaning they brightened it up and added some color) I for one am thankful for this.

...And almost all those design changes were mentioned, and most of them were shown in more recent videos, before the game was released.

Nearly everything about that preview is better than the actual game that was released. I saw no texture popping, and the sound and effects were way better than what they ended up giving us. How can you be thankful for a simply worse product? And it wasn't a matter of "brightening it up and adding color" the graphics we have now are just inferior in every way.

I disagree. Unless you're on XBox, or don't have an actually high-end PC. Or have a PC that has one of the graphics cards the game doesn't work properly with.

I've seen it running on a really good PC, and it looks and plays amazingly well. No pop-in that I saw

It's not as pretty on PS3 or XBox, and XBox does get pop-in more visibly than PS3 (I've barely noticed it on PS3 even when I tried to find some). But it's still a good-looking game, and the animations and gameplay matter more than straight graphics anyway.

Well, I rarely see texture popping, and im on a xbox. On a high end PC I wouldn't see it either. The sound effects are the same. I am thankful that they gave me the option to select any weapon I want instead of weapon set-ups. I am thankful for grenades no longer being a one hit kill. I am thankful that they took a more artistic route with the graphics, because quite frankly Im sick of "hyper realistic" graphics, Id take Borderlands over LA Noire any day. Im thankful I can skip the cut-scenes, imagine having to watch them 100 times, youd wish you could skip them too. I am very happy the brightened it up.

Anything else has already been debated 100 times over so there is no point in reiterating it.

Im on the Xbox 360. But regardless of what system Im playing on, a game should look as advertised. And I don't mean the CGI cutscenes, because I understand that the game never looks like those. But the animations arent that great either. Im just mad at how drastic the difference is.

All games go through changes in development, and to be fair almost all the videos look like the released game. In interview's they talk about how their was a disagreement between developers over the look of the game, that video was before the realism side lost. If you could find that video you must have seen the many many videos of the new build that are actually used for advertisemant. If this upsets you, you should see what happened to Borderlands.

The fact is, the game (look/sound wise) is nothing like the video. It's a shame sadly, it looked amazing back then, but with their extra year of tweaking it, they ruined it. They should have quit while they were ahead.

Thing is, release a game that looks like every shooter and get compared to it (and flop)
Or, make something that is in no way related to any other shooter (by this I mean: the mainstream ones) and try to push away from it.

Unfortunately, it wasnt enough for the game to push away from the comparisons completely and the bad reviews were certainly as a comparison to multi-version franchise games.

Sure, I'd have loved the game's lighting to be a bit heavier, and for the textures to work all the time, but I dont mind that considering the loading times where I'm not playing are fairly low.
Also, the more I play the game the less I'm noticing this texture pop, clearly keeping them in some sort of cache is working over time, installing it to HDD might remove it completely.

We'll see. Whether that game looks great or nor I'm satisfied with what we've got.

Gotta say, I prefer the way it looks now.

Half of what's so new and fresh about the game is that it looks completely different from anything else... that video, even though it had pretty slick graphics & such, it just looked like Container City stylised to look like a generic FPS. It creates a totally different atmosphere, and though that more-realistic atmosphere isn't necessarily bad, I've personally grown quite attached to Brink's colourful hyper-realistic appearance.

As for audio... well, some of it like the explosions & turret sounded better, but that Kross just sounded pathetic and the ricocheting bullets got really annoying.
